Interesting, today has been an eventful one too! If the message of the day yesterday was "kung-foo death grip", todays theme was "Dodge the hazard"..... I'll get to that Very Happy

Today was my big run out day, we went from Wolverhampton out to bridge north, towards Shrewsbury and through ludlow. I had a nice run on lots of national speed limit roads, some with bends, some straight. Just outside bridge north I was heading down a long straight and noticed a tractor waiting to pull out on my side the road.... he looked at me, I looked at him, he looked the other way, then the f**ker pulled out! Now hold it there.... lets picture this, I'm no small chap at 6 foot 2inch tall, on a bright purple suzuki, wearing my newbies day glow waist coat and my blue and silver and white helmet, but I bet if I'd been turned to jam on the side of his tractor he'd of been saying "dur, I didn't see him" pfft.

I was kind thankful of been made to watch out for below average intelligent creatures on the road as I was playing dodge the sheep on the hill side roads nearer ludlow Very Happy

Stopped for coffee in ludlow and the instructor asked why I was riding like a 70 year old dear Shocked Ok I says, so I was doing 40mph on some of those bends, but the road was wet, the diaeretic cows had been out, I don't know the limits of a bike.... period.

"Follow me back he says", so on the way back I decided if I'm to get over my fears in preparation for the test I'd trust his judgment and keep up through the bends.... what can I say but "WOW", it was brilliant, like being on a roller coaster! Laughing

On the way back my third "dodge" of the day was a beaut! I had to pull a "picard-alpha" evasive maneuver to avoid some little rat sized terrier on the road. It was a blind bend, rat-dog was sitting on the road side and ""VVRRRROOOOMMM!" my instructor flew past him, poor hungry little rat dog, he'd hardly stood up and missed his chance.... I was following and saw rat-dogs head snap round, eyes fixed on my wheels, his little stumpy tail pepped up and out the little sh*t charged, in that split second I figured I'd slow down a little to help avoid him, but I was on a blind bend and I knew a car was behind me somewhere so I figured with a cool head I can stay on my bike while squishing his! so with some deflection of course I managed to avoid him, just! I can only imagine that had he got his jaws round my tyre his last thought would of been "funny, this don't taste like chicken" Shocked Laughing

So children, our theme for today was "Be prepared for the unexpected", our lesson for today is "In the test under clear conditions the examiner expects you to ride like you have a big brass set of balls (for males and females) so make PROGRESS".... Hope I pass my test, then I can start riding safely Laughing

Tomorrow I've got maneuvers, lots and lots more turns, u-turns and emergency stop, God help us all Laughing
