No, everyone bar a small minority now know that Dave is a cunt. Before we only suspected.

And there was me thinking London had turned over a new leaf. No more stabbings, murders, moped robberies or muggings.

Wonderful Very Happy

Or is it that the odd death by gun or sharp instrument doesn't matter any more with germ warfare on the rise. Obviously the police have social distancers to harass so murders are low on the list. Thumbs Up

Or it could be that one bit of lip too many with lockdown resulted in Dad losing it and eradicating his little nemesis.

We shall no doubt see.

I think Chris Red lives in Upminster and it's not really East London, more like East of London, heading out into Essex (it used to be Essex until they rebranded it as part of Havering Borough of Greater London).
Still, nothing like a bit of good ol Essex violence....

I guess it is now. My Dad was born and grew up in Islington during the war and Romford was in the countryside. Laughing
I grew up in those parts of Essex and left 25 years ago. To me they're not London, even if they are becoming just as crowded and as much of a dump.

They moved the county borders, I dunno, maybe 10 years ago, maybe a bit longer. East London used to mean the East end.
I guess I'm just getting old... Sad

Croydon...

"A police officer has been shot dead inside a custody centre in south London.

The Metropolitan Police say a 23-year-old man was detained at the scene at Croydon custody centre, and was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound.

The male officer was shot at 2.15am on Friday by a man who had already been arrested.

In a statement, the Met said the officer was treated at the scene and then taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service, but later died.

No police firearms were discharged, according to the police.

Commissioner Cressida Dick said: "This is a truly shocking incident in which one of our colleagues has lost his life in the most tragic circumstances. My heart goes out to his family, direct colleagues and friends."

Mark White, Sky's Home Affairs Correspondent, said: "No police firearms were discharged, during the incident so police firearms officers were not involved in the first instance.

"The inference being really that the man now being treated in hospital is the main suspect involved in this incident." "

https://news.sky.com/story/police-officer-shot-dead-inside-custody-centre-in-south-london-12081007

"A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a police officer in south London.

At approximately 02:15hrs on Friday, 25 September the officer was shot by a man who was being detained at Croydon Custody Centre in Windmill Lane.

Officers and paramedics treated him at the scene and he was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Very tragically he subsequently died at hospital.

We are in the process of informing all of the officer’s family and are supporting them with specialist officers.

A 23-year-old man was detained by officers at the scene. He was also taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and remains in a critical condition.

No police firearms were discharged during the incident."

Shocked

BBC says "It is believed the suspect was taken to the station, where he was searched, before producing a weapon and firing it at an officer and himself."

Quite a few questions about how that's even possible. Confused

I just posted this in the BLM thread.

Croydon shooting: Officer shot dead at police station.

Now obviously it could be anyone of any ethnicity however this comment in the article from the police....

Asked about how someone could enter the building while armed, former Det Ch Insp Chris Phillips said: "I think police officers are probably less likely to search people now with all the furore that goes on.

Obviously what really matters is how we are getting in the situation where gun carrying in the UK is OK and the fact that the BLM howlings has contributed to the police not searching people because they are frightened of upsetting whoever has to stop.

It doesn't matter who actually pulled the trigger, the fact the cops feel that they have to do things in a certain way because of mob rule needs to be addressed strongly and positively and sod people being offended.

This is west croydon.

Croydon is, without doubt, a game of 2 halves.

West Croydon is..... ermmmmm...... hmmmm.... difficult to explain, given its part of a pretty affluent area of greater London......

Even the hospital out that way is called the "Mayday", presumably named after the first words to come out of the Archbishop of Canterbury, who officially opened it ....

More speculation, or smoke screen depending on how you look at it.....

BBC Home Affairs correspondent Danny Shaw said it was believed the suspect was known to counter-terrorism police having been on their radar in the past, though the Met Police has not officially confirmed that.

It's on the road to Selhurst, near Croydon Halfords. I used to walk round there at lunchtimes during work. Still a fucking dump of a place though, an area where not many people enjoy a quiet life. The streets are always full of abandoned belongings and discarded furniture. If you ever want an example of street after street of modern diverse communities then everyone should come down and see how it's going...

I've been reliably informed West Croydon looks like Angola, by someone that actually lived and worked in both places.

Anyway Croydon is still the only place where I've seen the aftermath of a man stabbed in the head during lunchtime in a high street, and also where I've witnessed a man shitting into his own hand. (Also at lunchtime strangely enough...)

Great place Thumbs Up

Got followed by a 2up maxiscoot from work in Croydon when I took the GSXR in one day, luckily I realised and shook the tail. Triumph next to my bike was also nicked at 3pm one day from the carpark under the office..

Also the locals tend to wheelie quads up and down infront of the magistrates court, just for fun..

The suspect who shot a police sergeant dead inside a custody suite had his hands cuffed behind his back when he opened fire, the police watchdog has said.

The long-serving officer, who was said to be close to retirement, was named as Matiu Ratana. The 54-year-old, known as Matt, was killed after the gunman opened fire at Croydon custody centre in south London in the early hours of Friday.

The 23-year-old suspect also shot himself and was critically ill in hospital on Friday evening. Police had been about to run a metal detector over him when he managed, while handcuffed with his hands behind his back, to reach a revolver he had secreted on his body and open fire, shooting the sergeant in the chest and himself in the neck.

The suspect is understood to have been known to the government’s anti-extremism programme.

He had previously been known to Channel, an arm of the government’s Prevent scheme that tries to stop people becoming radicalised, although the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.

The suspect had been flagged over concerns about both rightwing and Islamist indoctrination, sources said, but nothing of concern was found. Mental health is also a consideration in the inquiry, with the suspect understood to have a learning disability – though whether this was a factor is yet to be determined.

Mystery surrounds how the shooting could have happened inside a supposedly secure area.

The Guardian understands the suspect, who is believed to have Sri Lankan heritage, had been searched by officers away from the police station, and ammunition and cannabis were found

On Friday night, the Independent Office of Police Conduct, which is investigating, said: “What we have established is that the man was arrested for possession of class B drugs with intent to supply and possession of ammunition. The man was handcuffed to the rear before being transported to Croydon custody suite in a police vehicle where he was escorted into the building. He remained handcuffed to the rear and seated in a holding area in the custody suite.

“His handcuffs remained in place while officers prepared to search him using a metal detector. It is at the point that shots were fired resulting in the fatal injuries to the officer and critical injuries to the man. A non-police issue firearm, which appears to be a revolver, has been recovered from the scene.”
