A group called the extinction rebellion staged 4 sit down protests at key road junctions in London this morning including parliament square and Earl’s Court.

I saw the group at Earl’s Court blocking the a4 next to the big Tesco store just passed West Kensington tube. To be honest I’m amazed that people didn’t just drive over their banners if not the activists themselves. There was a police car on a side road so I’m not sure if they were aware or not but they weren’t on site when the protestors sat down in the road.

Unfortunately if they view today as successful there will just be more of this happening in future.

The Boris Johnson water cannon would have been perfect for giving them all a wash. Sad

I have been coming in that way for the last few days, I only really got held up today, the other days traffic was heavy but did not really slow me down.

I love the idea of combating climate change by having thousands of cars sitting idly going nowhere divs.

Is there any reason that they can't turn off their engines when it's clear that they aren't going anywhere any time soon or are they just stupid cunts?

Personally I like the way the protest targets the cause of the protests so directly.

That's what I used to like about reclaim the streets.

Lots of modern cars do turn the engine off when you're stopped. Wink

I assume that's what the black cab protests are about, sitting there belching out diesel fumes whilst the Uber Prius' put out nothing; they all seem to drive at 25 mph on their batteries as well.

It's a noble thing, highlighting their exemption from the ULEZ Wub

Same Very Happy I also thought firing up was the most stressy time for an engine, I'm not sure how stop/start tech' impacts on this.

Not for me, I commute through Elephant and Castle daily but the filter-fu is strong so they didn't even make me late for work. I did have a rev battle with a glorious sounding Truimph twin while waiting for them to move though.

The protesters were unimpressed.
