Help!

I'm fed up with my glasses fogging up to moment I dare breathe!

How can it be stopped? Can it?!

I have a Shoei Qwest helmet, the vent only seems to help clear the visor, nothing else. Even when moving, especially when raining it'll be a pain in the arse to see and I have to leave the visor open a good couple of cm.

Any ideas?

I use this stuff I got at a bike show years ago called 'Hawaiian Stick' but it seems you can't get it any more...

Respro foggy stops my glasses fogging too and has the added benefit of stopping the internal sun visor fogging up too.

Otherwise in terms of anti fog solutions I've tried Revision fog clothes which are okay for visors but one lens for whatever reason still fogs on my glasses I've also tried Fogtech DX which is extremely fog resistant however it leaves a horrible rainbow like haze on my glasses.

You could choose to ride commando to avoid fogging but its the law to wear them whilst driving if you need glasses. The law is be able to read a No plate at a distance of 20m.

There are remedies but then do not last long. One was a 'fat' based anti-fog compound that cleans and leaves an anti-fog compound.
I tried it on a visor and it wasn't very good.

I was going to try the sticker lenses you get for dive masks. Probably one would work.

I'll give a foggy mask a shot.

I rode without the specs this morning as it's not too bad in daylight. Need them when it's dark though!

Foggy mask in my old Qwest was the way forward for me.
You might be lucky with the first fitting of the mask in the lid, otherwise be prepared for a bit of faffing until you get a comfortable fit.
It feels claustrophobic at first but the trade off is worth it.

Contacts. Seriously. So much better than specs for riding, they haven't invented a number big enough for it to be that many times better.

Wash your glasses in water with a decent amount of washing up liquid in. In fact do your visor too while you’re at it.

Have you tried opening the visor... or wearing an open face hat?

Used to have trouble with a clubbie on track that had this problem, peculiarly at wet Mallory track days.. not so much the spex... but his err... 'roman' nose.... used to spend ages building up a monkey-mask of tank-tape to try and keep hot breath from his spex and keep a crack open in old open-or-closed old AGV lid.... and then trying to find some-one brave enough to pull the sticking plastser off his tash... through the visor slot, when his session ended.... but I digress....

The hat and its fit, the way the visor works, or doesn't, helmet venting, the way the rider sits on the bike, how rider uses visor or venting, the varibles are enormous, the perms and cons on them almost infinite... A-N-D end of the day there's no off-the-shelf 'solution... especially one you paint on visor or spex, that 'truly' works 100% 100% of the time.... you just have to 'mess' and experiment.... and try avoiding some sedistic twit gaffer-taping your tash to the hat! Lick the lenses on both sides, then gently polish with a soft tissue.

This.

Got lucky when I first fitted it and it was perfect, removed it when cleaning the helmet and struggled to get it right again, took about 3-4 tries, but got there in the end.

I couldn't get on with a Foggy Mask. It felt like wearing a damp, suffocating flannel and if I didn't have it pinched uncomfortably over the top of my nose it just directed warm breath through the gap and onto my glasses.

Lenses all day long: glasses don't stand a chance at this time of year.

I've tried most of the solutions. I go back to a peaked lid, cracked slightly.

The peak makes a large difference in the amount of rain that gets in the lid, which I get filtering through traffic, but am surprised about doing 60 on an NSL. Unless it's absolutely torrential, it seems to work better than anything I've found, given I can't wear contacts.

Don't people who are saying contact lenses find it a problem when riding with the visor open? I wear contacts for climbing/running etc., but given that I find windy days in the mountains uncomfortable (the airflow dries my eyes out), I imagine it's even worse on the bike? OK with the visor down though I expect (but I don't like riding with it shut unless I have to, bad weather etc.).

Aye, that's why I stopped wearing contacts and went back to glasses.
