Spada Enforcers were recommended last time I asked, are they still the best? Is there a heated glove that targets the finger tips?

Can't speak for heated gloves, but I've used a pair of Richa Cold Protect GTX gloves pretty much every day for nearly four years, and crashed in them once. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Still using my Enforcers. Nobby may be a bastard, but he was right about them, they're a top winter glove without being mental expensive. I just wish they did a size bigger to fit my freakishly large hands

I buy dude gloves because women's ones are either disgusting or the fingers are too short for me, nothing wrong with that!

I am considering some Keis heated inner gloves to wear under my normal gloves. £70 is expensive but I tried some on at the bike show last week and they were so very very toasty.

Spada do other winter gloves and enforcers are cheap. Is there better?

Im looking for a glove that will keep my fingertips warm at reasonably negative temperatures whilst the outer layers being saturated with cold melty snow, not a brief fair weather ride that turns wet.

BMW winter gloves are good. I use with heated grips but they keep the heat in the hands quite well without heated grips too.
There's no way around the problem except by padding with insulating material.
So usually winter gloves lose a bit of feel. Just ride slower.

https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/wear/ride/pro-winter-gloves.html

£125 is cheap for insulated gloves.

And tuck the cuff upl your sleeves.

I've got the Richa cold protect and the Spada Enforcers and yeah the Enforcers are noticeably thicker and warmer but still not good enough when temps hit their peak low.

Gerbing heated gloves have the element go above each finger to stop them getting painfully cold and it works. I've tried the Keis inner liners and they're much more bulkier than normal liners, I wouldn't bother instead just get one of their heated gloves otherwise you'll have warm but compressed fingers.

Have you seen my job description? I spend all day out in the pissing rain and cold on a wet day, So far my hands are still dry, Maybe not as warm as they could be but if you want warm hands heated grips and muffs are the way to go.

It started raining before I left for work yesterday and was still raining when I got home and I was out in it all day on the bike.

pinkyfloyd - yes and how many learners do you get when its -10 and snowing? Most learners will have completely inadequate gear for cold weather plus I doubt you have the bikes fitted with the grips or muffs. I'll still be wearing summer gloves under my muffs when your lessons get canceled. Also you will be going much slower. Faster is often safer, especially in bad conditions.

Ive had 3 pairs of goretex gloves. Goretex claim they guide the development of companies using the material, yet all three have been shit. The outer becomes saturated, the air trapping insulation becomes non-existant, and the hands become extremely cold, but remain dry. This is including the fact I use muffs, wiping the visor in torrential rain is enough time out of the muffs to saturate the glove.

There are many similar materials which all work just as well, without the massive price difference. There is a price pont for most products, where at the cheaper end of the range you can get the best product, and then the only way to better it is custom made.

Water will not get past a Proper Gortex lining.
Either the glove construction has been comprised by bad/cheap design or water has been allowed past the liner by other means. (Rain running down a sleeve into the cuff of the glove is a prime noobi fail)

Ftfy.

The Spada Enforcers use Hipora, which is functionally identical material to goretex.
Appears to be no functional downsides to this glove, only comfort and fit.

The heated options are likely a less good glove for protection but with excellent warmth, and not cheap.

Knox Zero2 OutDry - probably my choice if I go for premium materials, need to read more non-paid reviews.

Im also looking at heated levers, and might buy a pair of heated muffs to try out.

If Gortex is used it must comply with the manufacturers instructions.
Seams are the most critical area and high friction points. The membrane must be protected against damage.
The membrane would probably fail if soaked in solvents such as Diesel, Petrol, Brake cleaners and other aggressive stuff. Rule of thumb if it's not good for your skin then Gortex won't like it either.

I have Alpine Star Gortex since 2010 and still going strong.
I've augmented the leather waterproofing using Nikwax Glooveproof.
They are use year round but I have heated grips.
If really cauld then I upgrade to the BMW Pro. Keep my fingers Toasty.

And as for Muffs....

That's a thing auld fashioned girls have.

I had a pair of Spada Enforcers once. Found the knuckle protection was very uncomfortable. But the worst part is they STINK, like putting your hand in a bag of rotten fish stink. Not just me either, many others have said the same of theirs. Avoid.

Your hands will seriously SWEAT in these. Which leads to the second major problem, they stink. There seems to be something in the lining that reacts to sweat that makes them smell something reminiscent of a wet dog that's been vomited on. Subsequently, your hands stink of this after every ride.

Laughing thanks for the warning, I might avoid these.

If you're sweating in these, it's too warm to be wearing them. This is why you can wear them in stupid cold temps without issue.

Anything above 5c, don't bother. If you do get them nasty by wearing them in the warm a lot, chuck em in the deep freeze overnight, the're sorted after that.

Once broken in, they're probably the most comfortable pair of gloves I own, bar the strictly toasty summer day only A* GP Pro's.

I have some gloves with Hipora lining, and they too stink like wet dog.

Freezing won't kill all bacteria. It maybe just knocks them down a bit until conditions allow them to return unabashed. 😁

https://www.livescience.com/54882-listeria-outbreak-frozen-foods.html

Keeping your hands clean by washing them after you shit, piss or touch stinky things will be more practical.

I have not had any stinky gloves and would chuck them in the bin if they got stinky. 😎

The stink is the fault of the user for using them in the incorrect conditions. As dippy says, if its over 5 degrees it's too warm for them. I tend to take a second thinner pair of gloves in case the day warms up too much.

Arrived. Fingers are a bit long, tight/uncomfortable at base of index finger, but other than that appear excellent. Probably the neatest stitching/quality compared to 3 pairs that cost twice as much. Cant wait for the cold weather to try them out.

Has anyone bought a pair of the heated gloves with the built in 7volt batteries ?
I have a few bikes and dont want to wire up all of them.
I commute once or twice a week 30/40 minutes each way all year round ,by the end of the journey my hands are cold
If the heated gloves are no good i guess its the muff route ?
Cheers

Richa Cold Protect do appear to be the winter goretex glove of choice, mine are into their third winter.

Have recently discovered richa Hurricanes as a non-winter (or winter and muffs) rain glove, they are slim enough to fit nicely under jacket cuffs.

Yes, Gerbing XR7. I use them every day in winter, toasty as fuck. I rate them.

For the record I have heated grips too (I don't use them) and also a set of Barkbuster Blizzard on the VFR that kill the windchill and keep the gloves dry without having to bury my hands in a muff. Not saying it's the ultimate solution, but it's the one that's worked for me every winter through the worst weather we get on my commute.
