I got the manual from www.manualslib.com.
OK so it looks de-restricted. The AIS appears to put air back into exhaust to stop back-firing, so probably would sound better if removed, but can this be restricting engine too?
Nobby I kind of agree with you, less than 30 is dangerous, but so is a 16yo with a 45mph bike.. lol. Having said that, I had a funky moped and came to no harm. ____________________ If it aint broke... fix 'til it is. |

If a vehicle restricted to mph is 'dangerous' then no one should be allowed a push-bike or milk float or a mobility scooter!!!
What makes a 28mph moped 'dangerous' is the number-plate, and the 'idea' that because you are supposed to have done a CBT and have a driving licence, it aught to be as fast as any other vehicle you have to have a licence for.... which most riders dont... CBT aint a licence!!!
That 'idea' and the teen-age owners of them, are where the major 'danger' lies... go watch outside any chippy long enough or have a look on You-Tube to see for yourself!!! Treati9ng them as a big bmx to ride on the pavement when it suits, on the road when it suits, ignore road signs as suits, and generally think it all a great laugh... until they fall off or get caught.....
At least they have to wear a crash-hat, so they are slightly better protected than on the push-bike, and that number-plate means plod know where to send the summons......
Otherwise, they are a Mo-Ped... Mo for motorised, Ped for pedal cycle... the irony being that a half fit kid on a push bike can probably go a lot faster than one, and not have to display a number-plate or wear a crash hat or even complete a cycling proficiency course to do so!!!
Dont like Audi-coch's trying to give you an autobahn enema on the by-pass? DON'T GO THERE! Its pretty simple stuff... Goving some-one daft enough to go find trouble on a push-bike, something with an engine, that actually MIGHT just slow them down a bit and make them think twice about stuff, probably isn't such a daft idea... tuning the twits off a strimmer powered bath-tub on a pair of skate-board wheels... yeah... its not exactly a wonderful idea or teaching them very much, other than if you dont like the rules? Cheat!
May as well give them a fire-blade on the grounds of safety, and well, they aren't old enough to have licence, they cant get insurance, so why bother.... its all a great laugh.... innit?
40mph? I presume 'indicated'.. that's probably rather optimistic anyway....
Blanked off Air-Injection-Valve? Well, means that if they stick a sniffer up its chuff, its CO2 emmissions are likely above permitted.... but I very much doubt its done anything significant to the performance.
There's probably a lot bigger fish to fry in the greater scheme of things, and whether spoglet gets tugged for riding an illegally de-restricted moped, REALLY will depend upon how big a tit he is on the thing.... in which case restriction probably matters little...... his being a tit probably does. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

When I was 16 I'd have handed over a bollock to make my 50cc ped a real world 15mph faster. I'd leave it be
and tell them to not razz it around at flat out when the old bill are clearly present and visible and you should have no
worries. I had a C50 cub as a byklaff pitbike (which my parents knew sweet FA about) when I was a few years younger
than that, and that did 40 something. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
