My driving licence is up for renewal next month and I don't currently have a valid passport (so they can't use the photo from that). It seems my options are:
- go to the post office, pay £17 + £4.50 for them to take your photo
- say I've lost my licence, £20 and they'll send me a form asking for a new photo (as no electronic photo is available)
Am I right in assuming the form will ask for a printed photo? Does BCF still recommend 'losing' your licence so you don't lose entitlements? |

I was hoping you wouldn't have to do any of that signature bollocks on a renewal (?). Respectable member of society or whatever, coppers, solicitors |

Always lose, never send in. I have my last 4 still. Two paper ones, an expired plastic photo card and the current
plastic only version. I wouldn't trust the imbeciles at DVLA to wash a car never mind making sure the people driving them
are authorised to do so. That would take a well run department with knowledgeable staff, accurate record keeping and
using a bit of common sense as opposed to computer says no, bored, uninterested drones who stare at the clock waiting
for Friday afternoon so they can go into town to do the other thing the welsh do well. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

I still have my old paper driving license, I lost it and have since found it again after I had applied for the new plastic jobbie .
Whenever I correspond with DVLA , I always enclose a letter explaining exactly what I require along with the forms.
I also send it recorded delivery.
I don’t know if it ensures they don’t miss anything, but so far so good . ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Why cant you just give them a DVLA Code and let them view it online ?

Old licence is sent AFTER new licence is received so no need for the hand wringing snowflakery now.

I always call DVLA, 'Taffy Bastarts' because 'Bastarts' rhymes with 'DVLA'. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

It turns out the post office do still do the paper forms, I somehow missed that I couldn't do the lost licence thing online for some reason, so I've sent my old licence off with the form, a new photo*, and a cheque for £17. Bets on what I'll get back and when?
*which doesn't need to be signed if you're renewing your photo/licence btw |
