Just for 'fun' I waybacked the BBC news page from 10 years ago:
https://i69.servimg.com/u/f69/15/13/82/47/200810.png

Today:
https://i69.servimg.com/u/f69/15/13/82/47/today10.png

I'd call the first screenshot 'news', at least if you're interested in what's going on in the world. I find myself watching/checking the news less and less as all the major networks seem less interested in world events, and more interested in an SJW agenda. I really don't want to be someone who doesn't know what's going on in the world Sad

Are there any alternatives? Most news sites seem to have a bias, be it left or right, ideally I'd like neither Neutral

There are loads. BBC has abused it's position and let in so many libtards that it's a parody of itself parodying itself at the moment. It's only a matter of time before it disappears up it's own arse by way of some scandal or other.

Most likely related to suggesting the word 'arse' upset so many bleeding hearts who work there they had to remove the letters a,s,e and r from every keyboard in the building. Or some shit.

Oddly, Sky seems like it's on the button at the moment. But I am interested in many sources really, I'll put my own spin on something when I'm presented with the 'facts'.

AFAIA, this lot:-

https://uk.reuters.com/

Are a news agency, they merely collate reports and sell them on to the high street rags, etc, which is where the spin is added!

If you want to know what's really going on, you should probably read the factual parts of Private Eye.
They usually have all the major political shenanigans long before the rest of the press start sniffing around.
The only drawback is that reading Private Eye will raise your blood pressure considerably, when you find what our chinless, two faced, back stabbing, duplicitous, overlords are really up to and how easily they can be bought off!

I've been watching Sky more than the BBC lately but it seems fairly bad as well. That's what annoys me, you have to view various left and right wing sources then work out what's going on Confused

Al Beeb is written by and for a section of society with very liberal values.

Either it thinks it represents the UK as a whole or, along with the Libtards in control of education, think they can convert everyone to their way of thinking by brainwashing and selecting their version of truth to feed to a gullible audience.

It's not just Al Beeb, ITV news is just as bad, especially the local news.
Personally, I see a more balanced approach from Al Jazeera and RT than both Al Beeb and ITV.

I agree about ITN (they do ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 news), not sure I'd call RT balanced Razz it's very pro-russia and anti-west. Al Jazeera has been gone for a while (for me), when they went HD as I only seem to pick-up the main 5 HD channels now, but as I recall it was mainly middle-eastern news; so daily terrorist attacks in Iraq.

I did draw comparisons the other day between Reuters and the BBC, and it does seem to be independent stories that are on the (lets say) left side. One of the headlines above reads 'BBC analysis shows', what a strange thing to analyse Thinking

I used to (and enjoyed it) but post-brexit its probably been the most butthurt out of all the BBC programming, even more so than that (beyond) 100 days nonsense.

In your opinion, who out there in TV-land represents the view of the public as a whole?

Humour me.

Your, profound, all encompassing, ignorance is showing!

Ian Hislop's political views are pretty broad. I suspect what is getting Mpg's goat is things like this, where Hislop speaks perfect sense but his view happens to differ from that of Mpg....

What is getting SPG's goat is its, involuntary, Pavlovian response to anything I post.

It up-rated a post by another member a couple of days ago, a post which repeated all the points I'd made 2 years ago, guess which way it rated my post of 2 years ago. Rolling Eyes
Which makes a total mockery of its, laughable, claims about impartiality.

So you've not watched HIGNFY recently then. Thought so.

For someone who's endlessly whining, whingeing and ranting about the BBC, you seem to watch an awful lot of it.
Maybe you should practice what you preach and cut auntie out of your life, it might suppress some of your, all too obvious, anger issues!

I've just shown someone your posts on this thread, their initial and only reaction was, they assumed you were having some kind of breakdown!

Go on then, reach for that karma button, you know you want to! Rolling Eyes

Both look like news to me. The media (inc BBC) don't usually put the propaganda in the headline, they just frame the story in a left wing bias. On Brexit you will typically see a leaver, a remainer, and an impartial third party with a hard left perspective and a hatred of Brexit and anyone who isn't hard left enough.

Mpg you stated that:

'Very little on TV now represents the public as a whole,...'

This suggests that the vast majority of what is on TV nowadays represents something else, and judging by your paranoia I can only conclude that you think this 'vast majority' represents left-wing snowflake (etc etc) persons like myself.

You then go on to suggest that I give an informed opinion of my own. Ok. My informed opinion is that the most popular television programmes are by definition the most popular because the greatest proportion of the 'public as a whole' watches them. Whilst I really don't need to, I attach a link.

https://tellymix.co.uk/ratings/359373-most-watched-tv-shows-of-2018.html

What exactly is there in this list that is lefty virtue signalling (etc etc) to support your claim? Perhaps the World Cup because Lineker is a recognised commie stooge, or perhaps Strictly because some of the contestants are black and some of the dancers gay?

Get a grip with your daft conspiracy theories!

And there we have it!

You've got nothing, no debate, no reasoning, no argument just the usual, diversionary, petty sniping.

As I said, anger issues, you should seek medical help!

How much diversity lecturers are paid is news worthy? Eh? The main reason I don't give a shit is all these stories are people already better off than the average worker wanting to get ahead.

All the white peasants, black peasants, asian peasants, female or male get paid the same. When did we start looking at actors, sports stars, TV personalities, business executives and saying poor you, you deserve more money Crying or Very sad

I thought you meant the top story on each. As for diversity lecturers any salary is too much. They should retrain in proper subjects or GTFO.
