If you're not sure then go for about 30-40mm vertical movement in the middle of the chain run. That'll make sure it's not too tight.

The Suzuki service manual for the GSX and GSF (Bandit) says 20-30mm.
IMO, 20mm is too tight. Follow Pete's advice and keep it at the loose
end of this range.

I had a gsx600f (quite some time ago) that I overtightened the chain because i did it on the centrestand and didnt check it when sitting on it. Not a good idea.
