Well judging that 80% of dashcam videos are at roundabouts, it seems not many people know how they're supposed to behave. Lane discipline goes out of the window, and overtaking then diving off without indicating is to be anticipated.

It's funny how everyone stays away from you when you actually use your indicators on a roundabout Smile Lane discipline's an annoying one although I do tend to straightline roundabouts on a bike as the inside lane often has a load of detritus built-up (probably due to everyone straightlining the roundabout).

I would slow sufficiently as I approached the roundabout for me to be able to react to the driver, if he sets off. Surely it is all about anticipation - if you see a potential 'situation' ahead, you slow down just in case.

This is a common scenario where I live, particularly with mini-roundabouts...

Should be slowing down and being prepared to stop. It is a junction with a give way line, treat it as one.

one of my routes home from work has a slightly staggered cross roads that's marked up with give way lines etc as though it's a mini roundabout, but without a blob in the middle.

It gets used as everyone slowing to a stop and whoever was at the line first gets to go first.

Same principle for the hypothetical situation. The car is at the roundabout line, the bike is not, however the car would be wise to see the bike and question if the bike is going to slow / stop or can the car safely proceed without impending the bike.

Of course, no one on the road seems to consider any of the above points, especially if they have a dash cam and will simply gun it because they give driving as much attention as they do pressing a button in a lift.
