Got an original Nintendo Wii in the loft, it was given to me. Forgot I had it, saw it when I got the Xmas decs down.

Do they have any uses?

Like my old Xbox 360 is upstairs running video apps. But I seem to remember the last time I briefly used the Wii just about everything didn't work, or wasn't supported, just played the games, and most of those that came with it are boring.

I believe you can 'hack' them and load emulators etc., I don't have one though Smile

Flog it for something like £30 or more if you've got games and extra controllers.

I have one plugged into my bedroom telly purely because the Netflix app still works. However, support is ending in mid January. Not sure if that means it’ll completely stop working or just stop receiving updates.

If it completely stops working, I wouldn’t mind looking into softmodding it.

It's a bit late now but Microsoft had a £55 (credit) trade-in offer not that long ago where they were accepting Wii's. I sent them a shitty old banned original Xbox 360 (worth £10-15), I took great pleasure in returning their blicked console to them Smile

It might be worth keeping an eye out although I doubt they'll do it again (they were inundated).

Whaaaa?

Buy Lego Starwars, Batman and Indiana Jones and play through. That's what these things are made for.

Mine sat unused until my little-un was about 4, then I software hacked it, stole games off the internet and she plays on it.

Get Zelda - Ocarina of Time running on it and enjoy one of the best games ever made.

I've still got the launch wii, I've soft modded it and changed the case. I have all the games on external HDD, still turn it on every now and then for a play.

you can get all the VC games and install for free, emus etc.

I'll have a go at hacking it, I've done a quick search and found some videos now

if I muck it up and turn it into a brick, it's not going to make much difference, been up in the loft so long I forgot I had it

modded it, sort of, bit of a fiddle, but less of a faff than getting Kodi working on an Xbox one.

Got a couple of homebrew games running on it. Might mess about with some EMU's later.

Nice, I'd be interested to know how they run, although I'll never buy another Nintendo product* after recent events in the emu/rom scene.

*the Snes Mini (my one and only purchase) was a moment of weakness Smile

Years ago, before web 2.0 I bought a console from a home shopping channel, one of those 100 games in 1 things.

Had a single cart, instructions said DO NOT REMOVE!

I removed, eventually, and realised I'd bought a Famiclone, i.e a copy of a Jap NES, and then could play pretty much any Famicom, NES or homebrew cart.

Super Mario in Sonic World was my fave.

I have a Wii knocking around that I'm contemplating hacking into. There were some decent games but I never got around to it.
