Anyone ridden a Ducati Hypermotard and a ktm 690 or husqvarna 701? I guess they are very different. Does the hypermotard feel more like a regular road bike that looks like an SM? Does it have the same fun factor As the others? I hear the hypermotard is a bit more practical/comfy.

yes .. the ducati 796 .. twin valve motor and i have a 701 enduro

its a hybrid .. as such it had characteristics of both .. but the riding position was dirt bike style .. the engine was a road goin motor...

frankly around town,urban traffic and into the suburbs not much to differentiate between the two .. seat on the ducati was a bit more comfortable.. the lumpy motor and excessive maintenance schedule on the ducati is what made me get rid..

but i would NOT be doing a euro tour on either of them ... unless they was in the back of my Transit Van ...

I went for a test ride on the hypermotard 939 today. Liked it a lot. Felt much more confident on it than on my Ducati 848. Loved the seating position too. Found it REALLY snatchy though - even when not in sport mode..

This was the first test ride I’ve ever done. Bought my cbr600 and Ducati 848 without even having sat on one Smile I know that’s stupid so I’m correcting it now for my next bike purchase.

Wild card given your other choices but when you try the MT09, maybe give the tracer a go as well. It's almost as much of a hooligan as the normal MT09 but a lot more practical. Needs Susension work though. It's maybe not quite what your looking for but it's one of the few bikes that literally made me laugh at the entire time I was on it. Even the MT10 wasn't as fun.

Looks wise the hyper is probably my favourite bike. It's just a tad too tall for me to o he comfortable though. 701 is a little lower

Maddest review I've ever read but it sort of gets the point across. Laughing

Couldn't agree more, But MT09 was built from the ground up to be a hairier chested but lower priced competitor to the
Street Triple. MT10 was made out of the R1 parts bin. I own a MT09 but have ridden MT10. The 09 is more of a handful.

If you really have to have that sporty training shoe look there's the MT09 Street Rally variant.

Agree. I loved the warp drive power of the 10 but the 9 is more exciting and adrenaline inducing. It feels lighter and a lot more lively, if not as outright fast. I've ridden the 09SP, the 10 and the Tracer 900. I enjoyed all 3 but would probably go tracer for my own needs as it just offered more practicallity and a usable pillion perch without losing much of the lunacy of the 09.

If my priorities were different and I never needed to carry a pillion or much luggage I'd probably take the base 09. There are more accomplished bikes out there but that engine is just pure fun.
