R1 5 pw

Hi I have a 2003 r1 5 pw which was running fine until I took it out recently where it was fine for about 25 miles then started jerking and loosing power and cutting out ,when I stopped the bike and restarted it it was ok again for a few miles before it started the issues again .
Has anybody incountered this problem with the r1 5 pw thanks ,I feast like I was accelerating but the power wasn’t going through to the back wheel.

I have an '03 R1. They're brilliant! I did have problems with the charging system some time ago though. Heat increases electrical resistance so a moment to cool might bring a failing component or connection briefly out of the dead zone. How's your battery? What's the bike's recent history? Otherwise I'd be thinking about the effect of heat on ignition coils or sensors. Tricky to diagnose though.

Digressing now, a bike shop once told me my bike must have had an engine swap because it had carburettors. In fact it has fuel injection but I've read that Yamaha used vacuum-operated CV carburettor-style slides in the throttle bodies. I've never heard of an FI 02-03 R1 having icing issues (maybe it's not possible?) but your symptoms reminded me of my Kawasaki's carb icing.

It does sound more like the rectifier/regulator unit,but without probing about with a multimeter it would be a bit difficult to ascertain which direction to go.

Do you have a relevant workshop manual like a Haynes or a Clymer?
