Hi guys, after a bit of advice. My dads fz1 developed a misfire which I diagnosed as a cylinder 1 coil failure. I’ve replaced this and now when starting the bike it raises its idle speed to 3500rpm. It didn’t initially and idled ok for 5 minutes or so before raising.

I’ve tried swapping back to the old coil incase the pattern part was pulling an incorrect resistance and confusing thing but it made no difference apart from missing a little bit again.

I can’t think that any plugs have been knocked out or anything. The only thing I can think is I showed him the diagnostic mode on the dash and he messed with some settings, we think they’ve gone back to what they were before but not 100%.

Any advice would be welcome, or if someone with the same bike could flash through their menu so I can compare to what his dash reads and be sure these are all correct.

TIA for any help people!

You might have a vacuum leak after reassembling everything. Is the air box properly seated on the throttle bodies?

I was thinking about the air box not being fully sealed, but would this be enough to raise the revs by a 2000rpm?

Yeah it does have a power commander, couldn’t be that it’s lost a map and thrown the fueling off? It’s nit had a battery connected for a week or so
