It was in the topic I linked to, iirc OP went to a training school and wanted to do all the Mod 1 training in a day, the school said ok but if you're not up to it you'll have to do it on a 125... they weren't so did it on a 125.
I'm guilty of this myself but it does sound like the OP likes making things difficult for themself |

Firstly OP seems to know better than everyone else, or has a reason why they want to go an unconventional route to passing the test (diy option).
Did the training school shout at you too much or say your not up to it, or discriminate or behave inappropriately towards you inany way?
Your actions are like someone that's burnt their hand on the oven and not wanting to go back into the kitchen out of fear or irrational behaviour and mentally blocking out reality, and trying to find a way to skirt around the issues they are facing instead of tackling them head on?
What makes you think in your head that you are incapable of passing an A2 test unlike everyone else?
The only other reason to avoid A2 is if your totally skint, and just need a simple cheap commuter bike on an A1 licence to get to work and back on. But if that were the case you'd not be worrying about motorways, 72mph speed cameras and carrying pillions.
Something doesn't stack up here, and it's not the bikes or the insurers or the licencing system. Its just the delusional person that won't admit they are avoiding putting the cart in front of the horse, or something like that? |
The 72mph speed cameras is relevant as it lowers the speed of vehicles wondering if 4 stroke 125s could handle it.
DIY route cost me just the test fees(£75) Im watching videos amd just ride around a lot. To do full das is usually about £700ish. |

In theory you could be done for being 2mph over the limit but speed cameras are not set at 72mph.
"All cameras on M1 and M25 go live at midnight tonight, set at 72mph.
Auto ticket generating system with 6 point penalty."
"Watch your speed and tell everyone else tonight, any speed over 90mph is instant ban & possible court & custodial sentence order!! Drive safely guys & girls."
It's all a load crap intended to wind people up. |
Yeah that's scaremongering fake news. One of my drivers forwarded it to me the other day. Dunno where it's come from, FB I'll bet but it's complete bollocks!
I can categorically say that, while it is possible to get done for doing 72mph on a motorway, it's extremely unlikely, and EVEN if you did it would be 3 points and a £100 fine, 90mph wouldn't be an instant ban and neither would 100mph, 100mph would be a court hearing where the magistrates would have to CONSIDER it and depending on your circumstances (say for example if you rely on driving for your living and have a family to feed and mortgage to pay, it's very possible they'll allow you to keep it without a ban and give you a fine and somewhere between 3 and 6 points, depending how generous they're feeling).
The Association of Chief Police Officers recommends that an allowance of 10% plus 2 is given which I read from an official source and also for about the past 10 years I've been charging through all speed cameras at about 10% + 0 or 10% + 1 to prove this point and I've never had a ticket as a result, the vast majority of constabularies follow this recommendation but not all!!! The same driver who forwarded this fake news to me did actually get done about six months ago in Cardiff doing... I think it was 32mph or 33mph, and I know he wasn't bullshitting (a lot of cab drivers are also professional bullshitters, it's the only thing they do better than ripping the customers off and being late, so you usually have to take everything they say with a pinch of salt) because the vehicle is registered to me and I got the ticket. I nearly fell off my chair when I read the ticket as I honestly didn't think any constabulary would sink that low. It was a fixed speed camera, not a mobile van or a plod with a laser gun. Thinking about it I'm pretty sure now it was 32mph. Total scum! But there you go. So yeah, depending on on which constabulary area you're in, it is theoretically possible to get done doing 72mph on a motorway but I'd be VERY surprised if the cameras were set at 72mph. I mean doing 32mph in a 30mph is A LOT different to doing 72mph in a 70mph. The former is 7% over, the latter is only 3% over. Considering not that long ago some MPs were calling for a motorway speed limit increase to 80mph but with zero tolerance. I would think even a draconian limit to set on the motorway would be at least 75mph, maybe 77mph. But yeah, this 6 points and an instant ban business is complete and utter bullshit. ____________________ Must Go Faster

Apparently my YBR caps out at 70mph but I can't get it above 56mph! And that's after having a whole new engine fitted, 150cc bore and piston, free-flow exhaust and K&N air filter...
Like the others have said, probably better off taking an ever-so-slightly more long term approach, try to do your A2 and get a bigger bike. 125 on a motorway is no fun ____________________ Must Go Faster

Sorry I hate it when people do that what I've just done there, not answer the fucking question!!!
Yes it would be legal.
Assuming you're not a 20 blob like me (which is why I think my YBR won't go above 56mph) yes it would probably be just about powerful enough to keep ahead of the slow traffic like the lorries etc. but you'll have to resign yourself to the fact that you'll be spending most of your time in the slow lane, constantly feeling like you want to overtake but as soon as you try you run out of puff and have to pull back in giving other road users the serious hump and putting yourself at risk. Wind and gradient becomes a major factor also. You go to overtake that coach doing 62mph and as soon as you hit a hill you'll start to fall behind again and have to pull back in again. Heaven forbid you actually complete the overtake and pull in BEFORE the hill, meaning that coach will be right up your backside with the hump you're slowing him down. If the roads were empty, great. Fact is most of the time there'll be other road users around and they tend to be idiots, you'll have no reserve power to get yourself out of trouble if some dick head decides to try to kill you so you'll be far safer in the slow lane in the slipstream of the lorry in front of you, and there you should stay.
Don't expect any increase in top speed from any mods either! ____________________ Must Go Faster

It's up to you, but I think you'll be hard pushed to find anyone on here who would actually recommend it. ____________________ Must Go Faster
