 |

I'm planning my first tour which I think I can get away with doing with just my 20 litre tailpack (as it's "credit card touring", B&Bs, cafes etc.), but it's brought back an itch about luggage capacity on my bike. I'm reluctant to spend a lot of money on hard cases and racks, so throw over panniers seem a good idea (something like these https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/281847?r=GS&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvPu62Pbs3wIVAbTtCh3L1Q0aEAQYASABEgKxbvD_BwE) but I keep reading about the necessity of having a rack too so they don't interfere with the rear wheel, but racks are as much as the panniers (and would require two to use the same panniers between both my of bikes).
Are racks really needed, or are there ways around this? Or even are some throw over panniers better suited to no racks than others?
Cheers & can't wait to get touring! ____________________ TG. |

Yeah that's the thing, I'm reluctant to spend much on bike specific stuff as it means doubling up. The concept of removable panniers that leaves the bike looking "clean" (i.e. rackless) appeals as well.
Thanks for the input ____________________ TG. |

had sw motech stuff on my blackbird. rack popped off with three screws and just left 3 small nubs on the bike day to day. very handy.
mate has the givi ones you linked though and has toured all over uk and europe with them and likes them a lot, so probably worth a crack ____________________ CBT - 17/09/12 * Theory - 23/10/12 * Mod1 - 05/03/13 * Mod2 - 25/03/13 * BOSH!
