Super Cub
CB250K1
CB750
NSR125.
VFR750 RC30
CBR600F
CBR900RR

"Badly made", "unreliable"??

"Unappetising" is a matter of taste but I'd give all of the above garage space.

To this day I wouldn’t put a Bantam in my garage Sad .

It's probably more due to numbers but it's funny how they're the one really affordable 'classic' bike. I've considered getting one but I know I'd find it slow and the brakes terrifying.

Triumph T120 Bonneville (the recent one - not the original)

Apalling build Quality
Corrosion
Pathetic suspension
Ludicrously uncomfortable seat
Way to little power for a 1200cc engine
Triumph - couldn't give a fuck attitude to problems
Just cheap and nasty crap

The worst bike I've ever owned by a massive margin! Evil or Very Mad

Aren't they made in Thailand? Not surprising seeing as a number of the (recent) problem Honda's are made there too.

I didn't like the 954 blade. I'm sure with much money thrown at the suspension it would have been a great bike. But it was too hard and I couldn't get the feel of it. My SV650 with it's damper rod forks was a better bike to ride.

I rode a GSXR1000 after that, and really liked it which surprised me. So it's not 1000cc bikes that are the problem... more bikes whose suspension doesn't suit me.

I wasn't a massive fan of Katy's 1200 bandit particularly, but I didn't hate it as such...

However, there are no bikes that have elicited as visceral a response as the hatred I felt for the VW camper van I drove for my sisters wedding. If I won the lottery I'd gladly buy a load of them, blow them up and then post the video on VW camper van forums. Hateful hateful things.

I don’t know... I’ve owned worse bikes objectively but I think it’s about expectation. I didn’t expect my KE100 to be an amazing trackday bike for example. Everyone raves about the 954 but I hated it.

Objectively the worst bike i’ve ever ridden was probably the SR125 I rode on my CBT but it’s hard to hold that against it really, as it’s a learner 125 from a training school.

Alright, expectation about the 400 Superdream. I expected it to be ok, at least faintly competent, not exciting but useable. A middle-weight hack that would do the job. Kind of like a standard Ford Escort of the bike world.

I'll try to be objective.
It was a complete sack of shite, nothing worked as I thought motorcycles were intended to, and it did indeed appear to have a hinge in the middle of the frame. I have never, and will never forgive Honda for that abomination. I am still traumatised to this day, and it was something like 30 years ago I had one. £50 for a night down the pub was a fully acceptable exchange. Burning it may have been a better method of getting shot of it; at least that way I'd have had to ride it one less time. And that's all going by the standards of the time.

Now, tell me about your expectation of the 954 Blade again? Laughing

My second worst Smile I really don't get all the love for them, even by 125 standards they're gutless and like riding a blancmange.

Well, to be blunt... I expected it to be good. It wasn't. At least not for me anyway.

It wouldn't turn, and when it did the rear tyre slid. It had no feel and the throttle was twitchy. The engine lacked any kind of character beyond "Waaaa you're doing 120mph". I could never get any confidence in it, and I sold it after owning it for less than 6 months.

Swap my Superdream for your 954? Very Happy

You never know, you might think the Wetdream has "character" Laughing

Well I know the 954 had value to some people. I sold it for what I paid for it. I might find the Superdream suits me as a rider maybe? I doubt it though, I tend to go for bikes that handle well.

That said, people say the KR1S is a bit rough around the edges handling wise, but light small bikes suit me (as a light small person). Maybe if I could get it working long enough I could find out!! Smile

Similar experience I had with my America, and that wasn't a Thai bike, except I also had the added bonus of the engine cutting out, randomly, but, usually when it did it was whilst slowing down coming off the motorway !! Or, on the approach to roundabouts. It's why, even though I like the look of some Triumph bikes, I won't get another Triumph, Still wasn't the worse bike I've owned, that goes to the Divvy..

I tend to see the good side of every bike I ride, so I don't have much hater for specific models.

But with some thought, the only two bikes I've not liked riding was the Aprilia Tuono 1000 and the Suzuki VX800.

The Tuono was just the wrong character for the bike - like a full on sports bike, but sitting on a commuter - just didn't make sense to me!

The VX800 was just too long - felt like riding an oil tanker!

To put this into context, the I've ridden mostly sports tourers and my favourite one day on a bike was possibly a CBX500!

I've never understood how anyone can single out one of the Japanese manufacturers and say they are crap compared to the rest, or alternatively that one Japanese manufacturer is way better than the others.

They are very generally all the same, and make the same bikes and same class of bikes with
Very similar design, layout and specifications. They all have made a best and worst in every class over the years, and if you compare other stuff such as longevity and build quality, well they are all very similar these days, much more so than they used to be.

I wonder if this hating on a Japanese brand is due to Fan boi effect? Sure I get that there's Suzuki or Honda fans who are die hard and if you cut their arm they'd bleed blue or red.

I've always had a bit of a thing for Kawasaki and Yamaha's over the other brands, and yet I've hardly ridden or had anything to do with Suzuki's by comparison. There's no way in the world that I'd say that Kawasaki always make better bikes than Suzuki or Honda though.

Just seems weird to me to be able to call out one of the big four and say best or worst bikes of the lot.

Same here as it happens. Kawasaki was first for me, more in the air cooled days though. Had a few Suzukis - finish wasn't great on the ones I had, but some fine bikes from an enjoyment point of view. Honda generally always seemed a little bland to me, but again, they made some very good bikes too.
Yamaha these days, and largely because they've often done something a little different, just more interesting, although my current one is just because it's a very good bike for what I want.

Italians? Nope, could never afford them Sad

No Japanese manufacturer especially in critical or big spending very close competition classes like sports bikes or motocross bikes is ever consistently the best every year with every model, it just can't happen. That's why I thought that RS chap had such an odd view IMO.

Yeah I've never had any Italians, would love at least one though, though I suspect it's a weakness and disease once you've tried one. Laughing

I could easily have a fleet of rare Italian bikes in Stevo's dream garage, and I doubt they'd be the obvious poster bikes in many cases.

A mate had one and all i remember is it rotting like a fishing boat. God forbid the idea of trying to do any work on it that involved undoing nuts and bolts. Luckily it was a fleeting relationship because, as Paddy says, they are shit to ride anyway.
