What's your budget / how new are you going?

I’m waiting on an insurance payout to figure out what I can realistically afford, but ideally I’d want a new bike or low mileage used, 66 plate onwards.

I know what you mean! Although I have a decent budget thanks to a silly woman causing me to crash on my 125cc and finance options, it still feels like I probably couldn’t afford my ideal bike. Insurance is the biggest issue for me because I currently live in central London!

So you’re going for a 1000cc bike?

I get what you’re saying. It is likely I will drop the bike but with that logic I’ll end up with a shit bike which won’t work for my intended purpose. I also hope that with the right protective accessories on the bike I can limit the damage.

There is quite a bit of difference between central London and Kent. I know because we are actually moving to Kent in a few months so I’ve been running quotes on both locations and on average there’s about £200-500 difference on fully comp.

You’re lucky that you can afford insurance on a big cc bike! I’d love to get the Honda Fireblade but the insurance alone would bankrupt me Thumbs Down

Cars get scratched, bikes get dropped. Deal with it. If you want it as an investment, it's not for riding. I've dropped almost every bike I've ever had at some point. Luckily the nice ones landed on me. If you ride like you're scared to drop it, the acid wielding thieves will spot you and have it away!

And then, after a year of being careful.... What suddenly makes you soooo much better? Buy a new bike, treat it like a new bike.... buy a piece of shit, turn it into a taxi.

It's what you imply.... having a bike and learning how it works isn't dependant on its age.

Exactly that. Once you realise no-one is looking at you and no-one cares how cool you think you are, you stop worrying and, as I said....its just a bike.

Fella, the 'risk of having a prang' does not diminish over time... only the knowledge and skills that have been learnt over time help to minimise the risk.

Add whatever you like. But, stop being a cunt.
