Hi all newbie here.

I'm really new to this. I just recently purchase this CBR125 I heard stories about seized engines are really expensive to fix. I would like to check whether this CBR125 engine is normal - I do hear ticking sound from the top of the engine. Also, It has faint smoke coming from the exhaust is this also normal. Do I need to be worried about this? Need advice from experienced users!

22k miles on the clock, Fuel inject powered with Dyno Jet V Commander

Many thanks!

Had it been serviced and valve clearance done, if not you might need a workshop manual

Well, apparently it was serviced 6k ago - but there is no proof/receipt of this. You reckon it will fix the problem? does it sound bad or could I keep going until it gets worse, or is this already bad?

Serviced 6k ago is a worry. That might be the major service interval, but I expect the oil change interval is significantly shorter, more like every 2k. They don't have a proper oil filter.

It sounds a bit rattly, but that might be normal. It doesn't sound fucked.

Learn how to change your own oil and clean the oil strainer. I think this one also has a centrifugal oil filter that is probably due a clean by now. Pain in the arse job if the screws on it have been overtightened.

Its well worth doing, and easy enough as its an adjuster and screw driver also the noise could be coming from the exhaust at the header, if you have on of those incense sticks for the house , light it and hold it against the header to see if it blows the smoke, it actually doesn't sound too bad

I don't like the sound of that, but it could just be your 'phone.

There's nothing to stop you checking the oil, is there?

The oil have been changed 300miles ago. So I don't think it got to do with the oil. Other things that could help is that this is Fuel-inject + powered with Dyno Jet V Commander and the bike has done 22k miles.

So you are on your won then.....apart from on here.

Visit cmsnl and study, print the exploded views off which can only help you.

You now have the manual and will know about stuff like the centrifugal oil filter, and how to service that, but dont use an impact screw driver on those 3 pesky countersunk screws, unless you want to but a new filter body and cover, then you run into the problem of a peg spanner etc..

Look and learn form the cmsnl views, read, read and read again the manual for the service jobs you need to do, gather the tools and do the jobs needed.

valve clearance, centrifugal oil filter service ( and sump flush out as well as clutch basket finger internal surface clean ( they act like a centrifugal crap collector also ) , cam chain check and adjust, air filter, fuel filter ( if fitted ) and plug, thats a basic engine service.

dont forget the rear chain and brakes, regular tyre pressure checks and CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL !
