Hi. I think my ecu is funked.
I've seen replacements (second hand) ones on flea bay for £30-£120.00. What's the chances that they will work? I'm a bit sceptical about dolling out money on second hand electrical stuff! I know you got to takes yer chance, but has anyone else has good/ bad experiences of this sort of thing?

Thanks.

How are the earths, they need to be good else the ecu gets really confused!!

I have seen an add for a firm that overhauls car ecu and gaurantees the work fort an extended period, they probably do bike ecu's as well. Will find the company name and get back to you. I may need some time as its snowing again.....

Whats the bike not doing and you have a wiring diagram??

How do know its ferked?
what tests have you done?
I doubt getting a Bosch LE Jetronic ECU repaired will be cheap.
It's at least 24 years old now (if its a 95) and uncommon.
The K100's and K75's share many components but not the ECUs but they work in similar ways

The ECUs under the seat work in conjunction with a spark unit on the top of the frame
and both of these rely on good sensors, sound wiring and connections to function properly.

I've had a few Ks and they're a bike where you need to RTFM and understand how it all
works to get (and keep) them running well, the CX is an agriculteral implement in comparison. which is one of the reasons why I sold all my K's and kept a CX as a hack.

As seen in a very recent classic car mag, ECU TESTING ( company name and are or google internet ) , ECU repairs for £80 + vat guaranteed for as long as you own the car.

Worth an ask?

What is the bike not doing and do you have a wiring diagram. As said check all the earths.

Hi. Sorry for the late reply.
Yes,on further inspection,I think I will have to go around the bike and do a sensor check. I'm hoping its something which just needs replacing. I have no real understanding of fuel injection petrol engines,so I'm guessing this will be a learning curve over the next few months.

Hi. It was running, but quite rough. But now it won't start, and it over fuels. Somethings not quite right. I will have to go through it all, sensor by sensor...

Thanks for the reply.

Before condemning the edu, check the fuel pressure regulator, they can stick, which gives severe overfueling

soemof you know whats coming......yes, those red neon plug caps !

get some of these, 4, and make the adaptors so they fir in line with your bikes plug caops and plugs. They flash when ht passess thru them giving an indication as to ht strength, ( flash grows in intensity with revs on cdi self energising types ) and dont with loss of ht. This will establish better than not and rule out ign problems or not.

A case in point, i had top check a mates car, quite deep recessed plugs, with 2 being black. No real info on coil pack but the manufacturer did give me primary and secondary resistance value, which where close to what was seen on the "suspect" coil pack. I fitted the red neons after making a coil pack LT lead. All plugs got a flash, but at the right time?????

Rule out ign.

How are compressions and how long has the engine run since you got the bike. I assume you have checked the obvious stuff like air and fuel filter?

A wiring diagram will confirm stuff fitted like a fuel pressure reg etc..
