It's a 1930s metal framed window, I suspect the panes really are held in place with lead, certainly feels soft enough. Is this feasible as a DIY job? Can it be done with the window in situ?
Meanwhile what's the best thing to patch over the hole with, I'm not too bothered if it's not see-through, so long as it stays in place.
