125s are shit. i know because i own them, because i have to (age)
so take a bike thats already shit and slow, make it even more undesirable by having the largest selling point as 'we're cheaper than those other brands', and the only people that will buy them will be a throw away type buyer
when you know you are going to toss it away, theres not a lot of incentive to keep on top of shit
secondly, to all you old fucks getting on your high horses about what kids these days are doing (or more accurately not doing) with their bikes, guarantee you the majority of you made the exact same mistakes they did with your first piece of shite moped
the only difference between my generation and those before, is now everyone has a camera in their pocket and the ability to show the world how much of a prick they are, including me ____________________ 98' RZ50, 92' H100S2, 03' VT125, 59' Jubilee 250, 05' varadero chop, |

Treating my mopeds like shite? NO! .
I loved my little Honda mt5 and Suzuki ap50 (older model).
They were my key to the freedom of the highways and my only form of transport other than the bus.
They were the bikes that taught me how to change sprockets, oils, filters, lubing chains, tyre pressures and all the basics.
That said , I don’t know how I would be with a cheap poorly built moped, maybe I wouldn’t care as much? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

Chinese bikes are 'cheap' because they are made using cheap labour and parts.
The quality control is not like the quality control the west expects from it's manufacturers. (And they only make things good enough to pass inspection. They do not aim to exceed expectation.)
But if you buy a cheap chinese bike and you do look after it properly then it should pay off in the long run. You may even be able to seel it on later.
But lots of the pieces that break are anoyingly made of shit and replacing with shit only compounds the issue. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

Chinese bike specialists have been around for almost a decade and getting parts for almost anything is easy - https://www.chinesemotorcyclepartsonline.co.uk/
Fixing stuff is easy - https://youtube.com
They are bought to last 3 yrs - any longer is a bonus!
I know because that is what my boy did. Bought the bike to run to college and then work, ran it into the ground, now its dead, he can afford a Vauxhall Astra as he is old enough to be considered insurable.
Quality is something that you want when you are old enough to value it - until then, cashflow is everything. Its funny how soon we forget what life was like when we were younger! ____________________ <enter personality here> |
