just got this today, all other gears are fine it just seems impossible to get it into first gear, there doesn't seem to be much movement in the foot lever until you are in higher gears, would this be a simple gear selector adjustment or something more sinister like a gearbox? also for the alarm system is it possible to buy a replacement key fob?

Hi , this ones loosely based on the Honda cb125, you would have to take a look at the gear shift mechanism, suggest that you invest in a Haynes Chinese 125 Motorcycles manual, that will be your best hope Wink

Has the bike been mucked about with before you got it?
Was the bike looked after before you got it?

Is the clutch slipping? Is the gear lever/ connections adjusted correctly?
Can you pull the clutch lever all the way back as a clutch not operating correctly maybe stopping you from getting first gear.

That’s the best I can do Thumbs Up

If you roll the bike forwards slightly (we're talking a few inches at most) with the clutch engaged and gentle pressure on the gear selector, does it then slip into first?

Also can you do this with the engine switched off?

I hadn't had coffee yet, I meant with the lever pulled in so technically disengaged . . . I knew what I meant, I just failed to say it Very Happy

PostPosted: 12:58 - 13 Feb 2019    Post subject: Honda cg 125, 1973, 6V conversion Reply with quote

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum so bare with me, but I have a few questions around 6V conversions.
I own a 1973, Honda CG 125, in beautiful condition. However, the 6V electrics have caused extensive frustration and therefore I'm looking to convert to a 12V system.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get this done around South London? I'm having real difficulty finding a place that will do it. I don't wish to convert it myself as I haven't got the facilities, nor the time.

many thanks,
Tom

I'd start your own thread mate, that way people looking through the workshop section can see your thread title regarding cg125 electrics and be able to assist if they know anything about it.

Currently the only people coming in here will firstly be wondering what a Jinlun is, then helping the OP diagnose a gearbox issue.
