Brought a mate home from work tonight, as we got home another mate was waiting so I got off the bike put the steering lock on and went inside chatting. Forgot all about the bike and that I hadn’t put the chain on. Confused

Sod’s law the first time I forget is the first time someone has a go for it.

Heard them in the act and ran out the backdoor with my knives, couldnt catch them though. Probably for the best as I’d definitely be up for a murder charge right about now.

No damage to the bike as far as I can see really, as I caught them they’d just broken the steering lock.

Thieving little chav bastards. Oh to have 5 minutes alone in a room with them…

Is it sods law or is it that they've had their eye on it?

The night they tried to nick mine was the first night I'd not been able to chain it to the lampost. Little bit more than coincidence if you ask me. Confused

Unlucky Zak, at least you caught them in the act and were able to scare them off before they had your 'cat away. Make sure you chain the bike up properly from now on.

Hope you catch 'em properly next time. Twisted Evil

Nasty, does make you wonder as it if they'd be watching it and waiting for their moment. I expect them being chased off by someone with knives will be a slight deterant to them trying that again Laughing .

I remember being advised by a Police Officer a couple of years ago in regards to when my earlier bike was stolen is that a motorcycle's steering lock is so weak that it only requires a turn of a screwdriver in the ignition barrel to break it !

I blame the manufacturers for making their motorcycles so easily stolen.... ! Evil or Very Mad

After my crash I had to leave the bike overnight by the side of the road - it was unrideable. I was a little shaken up and so forgot to take the chain out from under the seat and lock it to something solid.

I came back the next day and the little c**ts had pulled the seat off the bike and nicked my chain. I'm sorry, but that just pisses me off. What the hell do they want my chain for? I have the keys! It's useless to them (other than to use as a) a weapon b) to launch through some other poor sod's car window)...

Makes me mad! Evil or Very Mad

£100 that chain cost me - w*nkers!

Had my bike stolen about 3 months ago. The first time I didn't put my lock through the back wheel as I was late for work it gets nicked. This cannot just be a coincidence, police said that they'd have probably been casing it for a while and just waiting for the opportunity.

I was lucky though, as they blown the fuse trying to hotwire it so they couldn't get it started, and then someone spotted them pushing it down the street and phoned the police. They got a whole 10 meters away from the back of my work.

You need a ranged weapon. Go for the knee caps from a distance then while they're immobilised writhing in agony go back inside, make a cup of tea, give the knife a last minute sharpening then stroll back out and introduce yourself.

So did Laura's, and they kept one of the rear fairings with the BCF url on it. Wonder if they'll ever come on here and introduce themselves. Twisted Evil

You're lucky you heard them and you've still got your bike.
Now you've had a warning which is more than most potential victims get and with any luck you've scared the little f**kers off.

Bastards!

How crap is it, that you can't even leave your bike outside for a few minutes without some little skats trying to take your valuable property!

Anyone caught with vehicle fraud should be chucked in jail for a lengthy ammount of years (a very long time!). Maybe that will deter them. Evil or Very Mad . Sounds harsh, but how else will they learn?

Lol, running at them with knifes Laughing .

I caught some bloke looking around my garage last night Confused which is built onto the house, the door was open and I had popped into the workshop bit and he obviously didn't see me, he was standing at the end of my drive having a good look around. Soon as I stepped out he quickly walked off...

So being paranoid, I removed the wheels from the WR, good fucking luck nicking that now ya chav bastards! Laughing

I have 4 weapons of choice all available to hand depending what mood I am in. I have a baseball bat, knuckleduster, 5 inch flicknife and a 2 1/2 foot asp (the same as the police use). If anyone does ever try to nick a bike of mine, I hope I catch the bastard in the act.

Crossbows are for poofs, you can get a decent compound bow with a 60lb draw weight for less than 50 quid. Let's see the feckers run with a 36" arrow through their neck pinning them to the wall... and the effective range is a great deal more Wink

Anyone remember the Tony Martin Case? Some kids broke into his farmhouse and he shot one of them with his shotgun and the kid died and he got convited of murder. So as nice as it would be to kick the shit out of someone you caught nicking your bike you'd be likely to get prosecuted for it. Thumbs Down

I think someone tried to nick/dropped for badness my MT50 one day. I came out from work and the whole right side - foot peg indicators and clutch levers were broken. I had to ride home holding my clutch together which made it very interesting at junctions. To this day I don't know what happened.

Whats the most convenient way of securing a bike?

Is there something you can do from the bike seat, without getting off etc?

Steering damper lock? (one that cant be broken with a good kick of the forks).

Just as bad, would be if you give them a good beating, and they then take revenge. It's easy to forget how nasty some of these little thugs really are.

I'm sure i can remember a few cases of people being burned alive, along with their familys, after having their houses set on fire as revenge. Your average little 14yr old scally probably wouldn't go that far, but there are still plenty stupid enough to do something like that. Whenever they know who you are and where you live, it's probably alot safer to stick to security for your property and only resort to violence as a last resort.
