I've got a set of heated grips that I've had on other bikes before in the past. Now the previous heated grips you could really feel them warming up; sometimes they would get too hot. However these to be stuck on a permanent low setting.

They are simply wired to an inline fuse and straight to the battery, just wondering if anyone has come across this before. Or have any ideas how to get more heat from them.

Is the controller knackered? Try temporarily bypassing that (ie so the grips are permanently on full) and see if that makes a difference

Nope swapped the controller for another and still the same symptom. At the moment I'm wondering if they would be best going straight to the battery instead of the inline fuse. Wondering if that would change anything.

Stop guessing and get a meter on it !

Disconnect it all and measure the resistance of each grip.
I'll guess around say 8 ohms or so. maybe lower
Measure the resistance through the controller on the power line.
I'll guess say 50 ohms on low which should drop to zero at full power

this test will give an idea of anything's broken and if not, the power
you can expect

lets say each one is a 25W grip
25W/14V = 1.78A per grip so have a resistance of 7.5 ohms

if you feed them in series from the controller, the load resistance will be doubled
to 12.5 ohms so you'll only have half the wattage/heat.
If they're wired in parallel, you'll get the full 25W per gri

Don't run it without a fuse!
The fuse simply forms a break in the circuit and will not lessen the power to the grips. It'll be either with power or without.
I can sense what you're thinking but stop to ponder.. If I replaced all of the fuses in my car with bigger ones, will my car go faster? No it won't!

Well I've checked the resistance and everything all seems good, now I think I've found the problem. The handlebars.

Only got one bar end on at the moment and I think it's heating up the bars more than the actual grips; which would make sense why I'm not getting the heat through. However when it was frozen the other week I was able to loosen the throttle with the heated grips.

I know these grips well, I sold several hundred sets of them.

Test the resistance of the grips. If the resistance is high, above 15 ohms they take ages to heat up, if below 15 ohms, preferably around 12-14 they heat up quickly.

You tended to get different resistance readings between the grips in a pack so I used to match them from batches of 50+ that I bought at a time.
