Anyone know anything about guitars?

Cos I don't.

I want rid of one which has been sitting in our spare room for years (see link here; I think one of the kids once had it for Xmas but lost interest by Boxing Day?). It's in VGC except for one string being missing (the thinnest/highest one) it would be shame to bin it if I can fix it cheaply, but I have no clue what I need - can anybody advise? I don't need or want to buy a whole set of strings (especially if it just ends up at charity shop), so I'd just like a couple of the one I need (cos I'm bound to snap one!) There's loads on eBay for pennies like this but what sort/size do I actually want? What's the buzzword(s)?

Also - at the bottom of the strings where they attach to the guitar, each one connects to what looks like a small white round bead (see below). But there isn't one there for the missing string, and looking at the various strings on eBay it doesn't look to me like this is part of the string. Is that right? Is that going to be a problem? I'm sure it's fixable, but as I said, really not looking to spend money on this...

You want a 10 gauge steel string and a replacement bridge pin. Should have change from about 3 quid.
