So the Digital Economy Act from 2017 appears to be coming into effect from next month regarding accessing porn sites.

You will be required to provide Age verification through either Passport, Driver License or Credit Card.

You'll be able to buy cards rather than handing over your personal details for the AgeID system from MindGeek, the PortesCard will cost a fiver and will be available in the shops.

It's probably not in the millions, there are 2070 studios on the largest porn video clip site in the world and whilst there'll be loads of amateur porn people who run their own websites, the numbers can't be that big.

All those small producer are already being fucked over by Mindgeek so the porn block means those producers will be even more fucked by Mindgeek.

Channels like reddit will be amongst the first to be hit. Whatsapp and Snapchat aren't websites so they're safe.

I agree that it's going to be impossible to enforce in any meaningful way, at some point they're going to have to stop delaying it and let it run its course. Same as what they did with blocking torrent sites, they just want to be seen to be doing something.

The £5 PortesCards could be very profitable.

In January, imgur made it harder to share adult content.

flickr will fall into line at some point.
