In Northern Ireland, the Brexit vote was split mainly between Protestant and Catholics, and with all the 'hard border' talks and the general sense of once again being governed by a set of clueless westminster elites, a lot of people over there are talking as if the troubles are going to return.
I think it's fair to say there are real fears about bad things restarting, and this soldier F narrative is an appeasement tactic aimed directly at those who will use any excuse to get bomby again. |
If only they (as in the people of NI) put as much effort and pig-headed refusal to be reasonable into getting the frigging Northern Ireland Assembly re-started.
Anyone who complains about not having a say and complaining about being ruled by Westminster needs to have a long hard look at themselves. If they could show even a semblance of maturity by sitting round a table and behaving like adults, they would have much more of a say in how NI is governed.
Westminster doesn't WANT to be governing NI but currently, nobody in NI can will agree to anything at all due to an argument over (as I understand it) a bent politician taking advantage of an ill-conceived biofuel subsidy. They wont even go in the same frigging room, never mind come to an agreement on their stance regarding how the border will work post brexit. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. A hard border will have the shit bombed out of it, so is to be avoided. Even if it means appeasement, apparently.
Agree with Percy, I think there's some that just want to get bomby again for the sake of it. Must like those killing snackbars when there are in fact no snacks to be had. |
Methinks a hard border is going to be needed to stop the Irish bombing the shit out of the place, they did have their trial run back in January, thankfully no-one was killed. The Irish want the border open for many reason, free healthcare, cheap food, drink and tobacco, the buying, registering, insuring and taxing their cars in NI are just some of the reasons. If they loose these benefits the Irish will kick off again, no doubt about it. |
