Can anyone tell me what year this is? The V5 says it's a '99, first regestration, not an import or re-registered, yet it looks to me like a '93???

Hi

Saw that one on Ebay.

Not sure but I think that could be anything from about 1990 to 1993. If you ring Honda and give them the chassis number they might be able to help you.

All the best

Well for a little more weirdness, the chassis says it's an NSR 125 RM and the V5 says it's an FM...

That is an NSR125F and the M means the year, which is 1992.

Aye my AR125 says '91 in the book, but the A8 model was actually a '90 bike.

Right-o. This bike's beginning to look more and more like a xmas turkey.

Anyone know if I'll be able to slap fairing on it (assuming I can find any!)?

Best place to look is ebay, however you will need all the brackets and associated parts to get the fairings on, if it is possible, I have the unfaired NSR as well and do not see a way of doing it. Never had a good look at an earlier NSR so no idea of how the fairing attaches on that.

That bike looks very tidy by the way, it was off ebay wasn't it? pretty sure I saw it on there Smile It will look a lot smarter if you get the 'aero intake' fairing pieces that attach to the left and right upper part of the main fairing, I would not bother with the tubes though as they look a bit crap. Oh and would you be able to get a close up picture of that headlight/explanation as to how it is attached? what bike is it off? because it is not standard Smile

Cheers guys, yeah it was an ebay jobbie, had to treck all the way to worcester from essex to get it Sick

I bought it as a non runner, handed over £400.. good deal?

It's not too shabby, however the battery I've replaced, the one on it was totally dead, I gotta take a look at the electrics this morning before work, the flasher unit on the indicators might be f*$ked, but I think there's a short. The ignition doesn't work either. Press it... nothing happens. I'm *hoping* it's an electrical fault.

The headlights are pretty sweet, they have a blue tint on low beam, but the weird thing is they fit like a glove an do seem to be original? Maybe off a later model?

Oh, and the number plate is in fact on square Laughing

I'm just gonna go have a look at the electrics now, wish me luck!

They are not standard, and I suspect that given the quality of most aftermarket lights you will rapidly go off them when you try riding after dark!

All the best

Yeah, I suspect I will Smile

As it goes, I took a look at it this morning, after putting the bike in neutral (doh, doh, doh!!) the starter turns and there is compression, but it seems no spark (bugger).

Think the plug's dead, anyone care to correct me?

Jeez, might rename the thread to "Anyone wanna help me fix my bike?" Laughing

Take the HT lead off the plug, hold the lead with some vinyl coated pliers or something similar, and press the starter button, obviously there should be a spark. The correct spark plug is a NGK BR9ECS if you needed to know.

Funny you should say that, I had a look and saw there was no spark (dunno how to fix that?) but the plug I know SHOULD be a BR9ECS but it was a B.. 7.. sh plug (cant remember exactly). The ECS has a diffrent connection.....

Coil might be shot?

You should only use the BR9ECS or the BR10ECS (only if you are going to do extended *high speed riding* though).

As for a different connection, not sure what you mean? you can unscrew the metal cap on top of the plug, then put the HT lead on as it snaps straight onto the little threaded part of the spark plug.

Sorry, I thought that was vague when I wrote it Laughing , the HT cap doesn't fit on the BR9ECS thread. The thread is alot bigger than the one I pulled out, it wont click on. It's probably about 1mm thicker and 2mm taller.

It's definatly a BR9ECS I bought, the plug in there is a diffrent model.

Have no idea why if that's what these bikes use...

Ok, I'm a muppet. I didn't take the cap off the plug Smile

Still no spark though on the plug, guess it's from the ignition to the HT lead that my problem lies, guess on the weekend I'll have to take the tank off and see what's what Sick

Are the fuses under there? Bit of a daft place to have them if they are!

Thanks for the help thus far guys!

The fuse is next to the battery, connected to the positive terminal.
