My Fazer got nicked from outside work last week, in lovely Bradford. Oh well shit happens.

I've got a crime number from the police, and told my insurance company. Someone (loss adjuster?) is calling me tomorrow afternoon to go through 'stuff'.

They've also sent me a letter asking me to send in pretty much everything associated with the bike - V5, MoT cert, service history, receipts, any photos, and all keys. So if the bike shows up (it won't) I won't be able to ride it...

Anyway, what do I do now? Never had to claim for anything before. Can I just get another bike now and stick it on the policy? Does the policy get terminated once they pay up? (if they pay up). How much will they try and screw me over on the bike's value??

Bend over and lube-up for the derisory offer they are about to make you for your bike. Research what it would sell for, have that figure in mind and don't let them bully you into taking less than it's worth. They will try to pay out as little as possible.

No, and yes

Balls-deep. Then scrub your NCB and load every motor insurance policy you take out for the next 5 years.

Sorry.

Everything associated with the bike is yours until the claim is settled so I wouldn't be handing it over now.

The loss adjuster might want to see photos and or copies of things like the service history so that's something to discuss tomorrow afternoon.

They'll try to screw you on the bike price as much as they think they can get away with. Look on Bike Trader and eBay for bikes similar to yours and then you can make reference to those if the first offer they make isn't acceptable.

This.

When my bike was stolen the payout they offered was around 1000 less than market valuation. When I pointed this out they dragged their heels and eventually sent me a better offer.

Send them copies of everything because they are useless and they will loose them multiple times before finally accepting you have sent them documents.

No, and yes

They don't always cancel the policy, the fzr went onto the same policy after tge fz got paid out on.

After all the insurqnce is to drive, fire and theft is an addon to the legally required third party insurance.
