Do you wear a vest with 'Polite' on the back intended to look like a Police vest?

No, I'd rather rub myself with the still warm hide of a recently diceased syphilitic donkey

Don't get me started.

Taking a corner at a reasonable speed, only to find a huge mass of horse shit lying on the road. Evil or Very Mad

I've seen a lot of them and the chance of them actually being polite is 50/50.

Was about to start a thread but will ask here first.

I wanted to get some reflective fabric/ribbon/band to sow on my jacket and have a couple of questions.

Its not goretex, just has (or used to have) an outlast coating, is sewing gonna magically damage it or make water seep through the back? It's been waterproof so far in 1h of medium rain (except inside elbows)

Anyone recommend something? I was looking at some 3M fabric but not sure.

Is spelling
THANK
YOU
of something else on the back of the jacket gonna make everyone facepalm heavily or is it actually nice? I just wish I could thank ppl more when they move out of the way or not complain that I'm filtering. Rolling Eyes

These will stick to soft fabrics, I've used them on my kit until recently, RST paragon textile kit is covered in scotchlite, and RST GT leathers have scotchlite piping. Before that I added stars to two jackets and 3 sets of trousers.

However, retroreflectives are mostly helpful when you don't have lights.

I have two reflective velcro bands which stay on the sleeves of my bike jacket.

It's not a high viz vest, and it can be seen from most directions around my top box etc.

Something like this seems about right:

The added bonus is I'm not trying to look like A Policeman. Or even The Police.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Given that the "POLITE" wording appears on the back of these wanker-vest, I don't really understand who it's actually aimed at anyway. I mean, car drivers aren't even going to see the words until the bike's gone past them, are they? I would have thought that the one instance where these garments might conceivably help a biker might be when filtering, and are spotted by a car driver in their rear-view - maybe the driver might be less likely to try and block the bike or even give way... but with the message on the rider's back? Don't get it. Simply chequer-board stripes across the chest - which I think some of the POLITE vests do have - would seem a more obviously effective police-impersonating ruse.

I once saw a facebook bike group with a really good idea.
The person deemed to have done the stupidest thing that week was made to wear the group POLITE vest for the weekly rideout.

This is a breach of human rights - cruel and unusual punishment, so obvs i approve...

In my riding group we had a 'Cunt of the month' T shirt. Much more civilised.
