Any help regarding the size spec of the rear and front wheel spindles of my 2001 Kawasaki Gpz 500s. I have had the thought of buying a pair of paddock stands too ease with doing servicing ect, and has there are no lugs too put cotton reels, my thought is too make my own. Thanks for any advice given.

I'm not sure that will work on the GPZ. The wheels are 18" I think, which gives you that half inch extra clearance from the floor. Along with the cotton reels normally mounting to the base of the swinging arm, the hooks on the stand might be too low to lift the bike.

Does the bike not have a centre stand? Can you not buy a stand that uses cups instead of bobbins?

Should have a centre stand as standard fit (unless someone ditched it to save weight.

I've had two of these and self-servicing was piddle-easy all round.

Yes, bike should have a mainstand. If it's missing, they are less than £15 on ebay.

If you don't want a mainstand on there for ground clearance reasons, it would be simple to bolt it on temporarily (you could even leave the nuts finger tight and miss out the springs) when you want to lift the wheel. It's better than a paddock stand because you can take the whole swingarm and unitrak assembly out on the mainstand if you want. And you WILL be needing to take the unitrak assembly out fairly regularly to chage the bushes after it fails every other MOT for excessive free play.
