After reading of another two fatal collisions involving motorcycles in my local area today alone, i have to admit its making my arse twitch about getting on a bike with so many muppets around in cages?

Is it something that would make you reconsider your life with a bike?

I watch a lot of dashcam stuff on YouTube and out of the motorcycle accidents most of them are down to either a) motorcyclist being a dick and b) motorcyclist assuming car driver is not a dick.

Assume all car drivers are intent on killing you, get good gear, don't be a dick and you should be fine!

No. I fell off a ladder an hour ago, and it could have been bloody nasty. Does it mean I won't use a ladder again? Of course not.

Living is dangerous, and you've got to die of something.

Nope.
It's the one thing you're guaranteed in life.

I think I'll die being attacked by wasps.

I did at one stage, stopped riding. I felt like hesitation was what would actually be most likely to kill me.

I'm fine again now and ride again. as has been said, just ride like theyre gonna get you. if there's a junction, assume someone will pull out of it. if there is any opportunity at all for someone else to fuck you up, adjust to allow for it.

usually there's thousands of comments on bike crash videos blaming the car driver for not looking etc, but nobody mentions the fact the bike was doing 80 past a junction.

No. Nor did I used to worry about injury. But now I worry about injuring my injuries.

Worry about dying? No, if I died riding then I figure at least I went out doing something that makes me happy.

Do I worry about what would happen to my wife and daughter if I got splattered? Yes. Yes I do. And that's what keeps me reigned in.

Nah, nearly died, don't care. Would rather die enjoying something than slumped in a sofa eating shit watching TV.

to raise the question...

I'm not meaning to be a dick if any of you have lost a friend or anything, but there do seem to be a lot more deaths at this time of year.

is it likely down to people digging out high powered bikes from their shed after not riding since september and at the very least just riding as though they haven't had the break? at worst... not even doing basic checks on the bike and pushing as though they haven't had a break.

It's a little problematic asking them when they're dead.

Nope, not worried in the slightest, regardless of when it's going to happen, it will definitely happen, may as well make the most of not being dead !

Why worry, everything that has ever lived has or will die. My life is utterly insignificant in the grand scale of things. Also I quite enjoy the danger.

Dying is not what would concern me. There are far worse things in life than dying.

If you’re worrying you must be dining something wrong, no point worrying about thins not in your control.

Worry, not really. Gotta die sometime. I’ve had a well lived life to date. If the grim reaper came to visit me ....make it quick, ideally in my bed whilst asleep.

Probably better not to have one when you die; they might not be able to close the coffin lid.
