I've been looking for info on green laning with kids. I can't find any, so I'm guessing it can't easily be done as bikes need to be road legal and insured.

I know there are MX tracks kids can use sometimes, but I'd like to find something more informal for me and my 11yr old daughter.

Any thoughts?

You can not - it's the same requirements for riding on a road, so definitely can't under 16.

You don't say where you are - Four Marks in Harmpshire has a nice open bit and some woods areas that kids can practice on legally without the intimidation of a 'proper' track.
I think they're still open. You do find similar sorts of places around elsewhere.

Trials club?

My branch of TRF organised family fun days now and then, we hire somewhere for the day for our exclusive use, and then mark out green, red and black routes etc

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Poles wood in Essex is good for that but it's trials bikes only there.
