Biggest cause of climate change, is over population. Just let the coronavirus do it's job, those who survive will have an immunity to it. We don't allow population control anymore..

There's famine, no flu pandemics or bubonic plague or even Ebola outbreaks that can run their course. Even the wars have far less fatalities, in WW2, the last decent population cull, millions died, look at the gulf wars, just thousands.

We do need some form of global population control/reduction

A good start would be not giving publicity to women who have had 22 children, for their 'achievement'.

Or child benefit.

You're a bit behind the times there, I believe only the first 2 kids are now eleigible for child benefit. I still vouch we let the coronavirus run it's natural course, it's a start at least.

Not according to gov website unless I have read it wrong (which is always a distinct possibility Laughing )

It’s paid every 4 weeks and there’s no limit to how many children you can claim for.

Universal credit, income support and child tax credits are means tested.

Child benefit is not. It was introduced ed as families allowance whe the tax allowance for children was done away with.

Ths only time you don't get choked benefit (provided you are habitually resident and legally in the country and allowed to claim) is I'd one member of the household gets more than 50 thousand a year.

Getting it right now on Winterwatch, referencing only recent anecdotal observations and the data since 1880 (because earlier available climate data doesn’t cover enough of the planet to get an accurate reading, according to NASA). Sad

Protesters demand Cambridge University cut ties with fossil fuel companies. And how did this protest manifest itself?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA7w9Bad3bA

By digging up a lawn! Doh!

I wonder what those ties are, and whether these "students" (if that's what they are) even know. Switch off the central heating to their rooms, everyone's happy.

Wait until they graduate then they will be begging for graduate positions with corporations and playing their "degree from oxford" card.

Crying or Very sad

I missed seeing her by about 10 minutes at the station in Bristol this morning.

There were a lot of armed police around for keeping an eye on the unwashed crusties. Rolling Eyes

Removing climate protesters is good for the environment because that persons lifetime carbon footprint is now not going to happen.

Sadly, the police are more likely to gently tase them.

Quite close to me that site and during the protests the locals were not happy! Claims of dust ruining nearby properties was denied by those locals living there. Claims of noise and so on was also denied.
XR basically angered everyone near the place. They annoyed locals trying to get to work (it's on a busy commuter route) and annoyed those who want the site there because it provides both work and funds into local projects.

After recent discussions with the EU, a viable energy source would be a hydro electric plant powered by the volumetric flow of Greta's tears.
