I know I dont chat much on here lately. Mostly because ive been busy with some other electronics stuff.....
Anyway ive mentioned here a bunch of times that I really had a thing for the Mt07... and truth be told, I still do. Its an amazing looking naked bike and certainly ticks nearly all my boxes...
But I have to be honest with myself, I ride a lot on main roads so Im regularly doing 60+, And the one thing I can certainly take away from my bike training on a naked bike, 60+ on a naked bike isnt a whole lot of fun.
Anyway, A few days ago that problem might have been solved.... Hondas new CBR650R.... Esp in that matt grey black paint job.... Just wow. That thing looks utterly stunning.
Now its not perfect, one downside is its fuel efficiency. Its about the same as my old er6f, which isnt great at around 46mpg. The MT07 could manage 65mpg.... Ontop of that i hear they shrunk the tank somewhat on this years model.
And Im not sure if the 20Hp jump from what im used to is going to be an issue or not...
But in any case, Im seriously seriously tempted to get one.
The smoothness and sound of the 4 cylinders would be nice to have again too...
I cant get one yet but If i get another good project in the near future, its going to happen.
Anyway anyone else have any thoughts on this bike?

II went into Norwich yesterday, 1 to have a little look at the bike in person. But I was mainly going to see if I could find some of the gloves ive been looking at online, to try on and find a right fit....
Couldnt find any gloves still
But while I was there the nice lady asked me several times to give the bike a test ride.... I gave in on the third time
Truth be told, I was completely unprepared to go for a test ride... I just wanted to oogle... But anyway Yeah I was nervous tbh, this was a nearly 8 grand bike, and Ive not ridden a sports bike like this. I mean sports tourers yeah. But, lower down more hunched over sports bikes with more power than im used to... no....
Anyway, the things I was mostly nervous about tbh was not being used to the geometry being more sporty and what not, the 20 extra HP than im used to and the shear fear of putting a single scratch on it and loosing 1000 excess
Power wise, I had nothing to fear, this thing is SMOOOTH. I mean REALLY smooth. The power was responsive and available, and didn't feel at all jerky, which to be fair I kinda expected with it being a 4 cylinder compared to my 2 cylinder I'm used to. Took it around some town roads and some dual carriage ways too.... The thing really goes... (as expected) but again nothing felt scary. This thing was solid, responsive and stable. I honestly really loved this bike. And while I found 1 or 3 i really had to look hard for some negatives.
If I was a rich man, I think I would have bought the bike right then and there. Luckily I'm not rich....
ok the negatives that come to mind, Like i mention before the economy isnt great for a bike, though I did manage to get it to 49mpg with my riding style in the time I tested it (20 minutes or so). That is a little better than the er6fs economy.
I dont like the break and clutch levers, they felt really cheap and flimsy, for something that cost 8 grand and didnt have a nice shape to them.
And this is a real nit pick, the tach was not as clear as it could be with my sun glasses on in sunny weather.
Oh and the switch gear was angled a bit low for my liking, made indicating left and right a right chore.
Honestly though, i returned to the dealership with a huge smile on my face, it was genuinely fun to ride and felt great. ____________________ Yamaha FZ8/Fazer800 (split headlight one) 2014, gingerly getting used to the massive increase in HP and not killing myself in the process! £8K for the 93 bhp honda or buy This and have enough change to insure it and buy that pair of gloves
Or, being sensible-ish, a Duke 790, moar power, less weight and good on fuel if you're not thrashing it.

Maybe it's just me but Honda seem way over priced these days.
That (not really a) CBR is almost the same price as a Yamaha MT09 but it's nowhere near as much bike.
Don't get me wrong: It's probably a nice enough bike in it's own right but it just isn't worth two grand more than an MT07 and isn't even on the same page as an MT09.
At £6k it'd be a contender. ____________________ Suzuki Bandit 1250
