Lots of chatter recently about cameras not following ACPO 10%+1 thresholds. It appears to be true, 10%+2 appears to be the most common practice.

Are the claims of people actually getting done for 71 (or 42 in a 40 as I've heard around my friendship group) just bullshit?

I saw the NIP for a chap I work with. 32 in a 30. North Wales "Go Safe" safety camera revenue raiser van...

He argued it, but still ended up with a speed awareness course.

I've set the limehouse link tunnel cameras off at indicated 31mph before, but never got a fine for it. BMW R1200r on new-ish tyres.

If you exceed a speed limit then many kittens die.

Just because you got a nip doesn't mean that cps will bother prosecuting.

I'd love to plead not guilty for 32 in a 30. The magistrates woukd love the waste of their time.

He had a few other "issues" which meant he'd rather take the course than appear in a court.

The same ones that gave rise to the ACPOS guidelines in th first place.

I'd be surprised if they ran a trial at 2mph over.

I'd start with insisting that they explain the science involved and finish with asking how they expect everyone to maintain a speed limit when dvla derek insists that you maintain the speed limit on tests.

So that's why you weren't doing 32mph?

It's too easy to pop over 30 mph for a few seconds especially on a bike. I'm sure I hit 34 quite often without really thinking but i know where all the speed cameras are and where plod hides with the radar gun round my way.

I know it's not right to speed in a 30/40 but some of the places they have them border on the utterly stupid. Changing from NSL to a 40 on a dead straight bit of road half a mile before you get to the village out skirts and plod has a happy hunting ground.

Of course speed limits on that road are based on necessity and not entrapment Sir Rolling Eyes

Now hows the Christmas party fund looking.
