Resin not setting.

Using new polyester resin & MEKP hardener.

100CC resin + 1.75CC of hardener, stirred, applied to polypropylene moulding with glassfibre mat.

3 hours later, it hasn't set. It may have gone vaguely gummy, but that's all.

Why?

Oh, and is MEKP a chemical hardener that's used up in the hardening process, or is it a catalyst?

Resin and hardener matching, branded products or generic components bought separately?

Erm. Cough. Actually, I applied the stuff in my kitchen, on the worktop, and since the range is still lit it's at about 22C in there. Now I've put the thing in the downstairs khazi, where it's still ponging the place out, but it's slightly set.

Generic, bargain, resin & hardener bought together, should be suitable though.

Maybe not enough hardener by weight, I haven't got scales that go down to grammes, only old kitchen scales that go in 1/4oz increments, hence the volume measurements.

Catalyst or otherwise, I wonder (MEKP)? If catalyst, will solidify.

Not thoroughly mixed or not enough hardener, or bit of both maybe?

Old stock. (Bargain)
Probably needs the hardener content increased.

That stuff goes off over time we have in desert locations but usually fcuked due to hot storage or expired shelf life
