gsx 125 s .. may have a problem ..

ok so on my little bike ..
the rad and pipes are cold yet the engine is screeming hot .. too hot to touch .
fuel is not lasting as long
I'm starting to go thru a lot of oil 200ml added for last 2 weeks .

would I be right in saying it might have a problem with water pump ?
did a oil change last week ,filter as well ,new spark plug
checked air filter ..
also top speed is down .. unless it's the wind .. Razz

the bikes a yr old been ran in by me . had it's first service by garage ..
it's on 3666 miles

Personally I've only had such similar symptoms on a car and then it was either a) a faulty thermostat, b) an airlock in the system, c) a newer car that requires a pressurised water system or d) a system that has specific air-bleed points.

It's only a tiddler so I doubt options c or d apply Smile

The other things: lack of speed, going through oil, low fuel economy would (hopefully) be explained by the engine running hotter than designed.

I don't know what sort of warranty it has but if you can you'd want to throw it back to the service garage and/or original dealer as it's not the sort of fault one would expect on a low mileage bike.

If you have to tackle it yourself I'd be examining the oil for water contamination (mayonnaise) which would suggest a gasket failure and then check over the rad, pipes, pump and thermostat.

I wouldn't be riding it either to prevent any more damage to the engine.

Probably the thermostat and it's relatively easy to check (take it out, see if the problem goes away) but if it's still under warrenty...

they got back to me today .. wont supply a cover bike ..
and have to send it back thru rac recovery .. got that with the bike for a yr .
so have to contact them to sort it ?
so pissed off work split shifts so that's 4x bus fares till I get it back
will not be buying another from them
anyone know how I can contact Suzuki direct ?

That's normal. You bought a learner 125, do you have a full licence? They probably won't give you a hire bike... insurance would be shit.

But it would be something I expect them to look at and resolve, you just gotta wait. Could have bought a year old bike with those issues ironed out on a bike thats not £4k... Thumbs Up

It's about 4k new.

A 3 year old CBR will be over 2k to them all day long, it looks like they are doing you a favour but they aren't Laughing

But yeah, still 4k. Still learner bike, still their problem and you just have to wait.

The AA always try to fix before recovering a vehicle but rather than getting spanners out to investigate, they're checking that it's nothing obvious or the owner doing something monumentally stupid.

It doesn't matter if you've told the call centre person that the engine has seized or anything else that the AA bod really isn't going to be fixing at the roadside, they still send someone to try and fix it before recovering it. They turn up, you say what you've said in your first post in this thread and that will pretty much tick the box for them trying to fix it.

I'd be polite but firm with the dealer; being angry or annoying will only make them less inclined to help you out. I suspect they could technically throw it back at you for riding it knowing there was a problem with it, but if you treat them right you might find a bit of leniency and they might go a bit further for you.

FWIW, I have a full licence and my local (not a Suzuki) dealer wanted to charge me £30 a day for a courtesy bike following a safety recall - no thanks! If you're running on just a CBT I'm not surprised they won't offer you anything
