You help them by ensuring they can support themselves when you are gone.

Well I had a chat to her today and while she'd love a scooter (probably more for the novelty than anything else) she didn't want to be lumbered with the upkeep. Quite a civil conversation... I was expecting tears!

Back to rebuilding the ebike... anyone need a lovely, lovely 50cc scooter? Razz

You got it for free, we gave you free help and advice for repairs too.
I'll give you £40 cash and will collect this week.

I had a look in my alley way (where all the old bikes go to die) and there are a lot of good parts on the old 50cc conversion: brakes, levers, chain etc. so it looks like I won't be spending much on the rebuild after all which has cheered me up no end Smile

Isn't the homebrew ebike thing a bit autistic?

Can't you just have a motorbike or a pushbike like a normal person?

Messing around motorising a pushbike when such things already exist smacks of eccentricity.

Cost of Halfords mountain ebike > £850

Cost of hand build ebike:
Donor bike ~ £200
Conversion kit ~ £150
Battery ~ £150

So "normal" (not eccentric) ppl have to pay over £300 for some Halfords minion to assemble their ebike Wink

If you want her to learn some road sense, just book her CBT. Don't do anything else, just get her a day's training on how to use the roads properly.

I assume she's approaching this as a cyclist who now has a bit more power, but is still riding like a cyclist.

I might see if there's some cycling course she can go on. Failing that a CBT is useful, I certainly got a lot out of mine.
