Hello People,
Any advice greatly appreciated..
Travelling back form France on Saturday, DDay remembrance amazing, first of all ferry was at least 45 mins late leaving, sea was rough, half way over it lost an engine, stuck in Channel for about 50 mins I think.I was elsewhere watching movie, when I got back to cabin ,mate told me another bike had fallen over and hit mine after stra broke due to rough crossing. Employees on ferry had put straps on so, they are liable, they have given me a claim form, which they filled in. Not major damage, just scratched the plastic cowl next to my petrol tank, its a Honda CB650F 2017..
Anyone had to deal with this before? Not sure what I need to do?
No need to prove I had insurance etc
Any help much loved
Paul.

Get a quote for new parts and forward it to the ferry company. If you don't fancy fitting them yourself take the bike to a dealer and ask them to quote you (in writing) for replacing the damaged parts. Forward that to the ferry company.

Your insurance need not be involved at all.

Get two quotes from two different moto shops, and PHOTOCOPY EVERYTHING YOU SEND BY RECORDED AND SIGNED FOR DELIVERY.

Remember to get the quote for painted parts - some of them may be supplied in plain grey and need painting.

Don't put a lot of effort into trying to make the quote cheaper if it looks too high to you. Chances are that their discretionary figure - where they would just pay out on a claim without too much investigation or even involving their own insurance company - is over a grand.

At least two quotes, preferably three, on headed stationary (or website printouts) from recognised (VAT registered) companies.

Does the claim form not tell you what you need to do? Confused
