I got bored with Virgin Media's "polite" emails of the same. So I bought some VPN for my pr0n torrents Smile

Virgin offered me a cheaper deal with TV than just phone and broadband. Because new customer.

Having a TV service that you never watch means you've got television receiving equipment which can be used to watch television programmes as they are being shown?

They're going to need to update the requirements as anyone with the internet and a computer be it at home or on a smart phone has equipment which can be used to watch television programmes as they're being shown live on TV.

Which doesn't matter as long as you're not using it to watch lounge TV or iPlayer, correct?

Nope. You're meant to have a TV license if you've got equipment installed which can be used to watch television programmes as they are being shown. It's fucking stupid and OTT but that's what the rules are.

"A TV Licence is a legal permission to install or use television receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they are being shown on TV or live on an online TV service, and to download or watch BBC programmes on demand, including catch up TV, on BBC iPlayer. This could be on any device, including TVs, desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, digital boxes, DVD, Blu-ray and VHS recorders. This applies regardless of which television channels a person receives or how those channels are received."

As I say, they going to need to update that as technically anyone with the internet and a computer or a smartphone has equipment which can be used to watch television programmes as they're being shown live on TV.

Not installed, not used. Seems clear enough to me.
