I was riding for around 2hours around the house, having fun, a younger relative trying to follow me on his bicycle but then shit happened. A car infront of me hit the brakes hard, so obviously i slowed as much as i could then decided to over take him. To my suprise he turns left (no indicators, and there is no road to the left theres a big pile of sand). I was maybe a few inches by the side of his car (he didn't notice I was there till after maybe 2seconds) he went right I had no choice but to go in the sand ( which I thank God was there). Didn't hit the driver, bike dug in the sand after a few meters, I was holding it with my leg in the begining then it fell at a speed of zero .
Damage to the bike: none.
Damage to me: none but see lower line.
When I got off the floor I looked at the guy, he asked if I was ok. I just asked if I hit him or not (shock i think). He helped pull the bike out of the sand, before I could even say thank you. His friend came in another car and told him to follow him somewhere and the fooker left. Bike wasn't starting at first, It wouldn't go into neutral I think because I fell of at second . I had to push it back to my cuzin's which isn't far away but my left arm is sore(muscle contraction). So basically I'm lucky, but I'm pissed the guy didn't use his indicators. This happened because I don't have road experience, I never drove a car before and I'v only been riding the bike for around 3months. Bike works fine now, but can anyone give me a tip on what to do if the bike won't go into neutral? It wouldnt go to neutral so the ignition button didn't work. And if anyone could give me any suggestions on what I should have done, or any opinions on how to act better on such an experience I would apreciate it.
I would like to thank this forum because if it wasn't for you guys and gals I think I would of had a serious crash. Like you guys said I didn't look at the car I looked at where I wanted to go. Also this was happening on a turn so I didn't hit the brakes hard instead I got the bike straight and then used both brakes. Thank you! Will the bike start if you pull the clutch in?
Or go into neutral if you pull the clutch in?
On my bike you can only get in neutral whilst the bike is actually moving (mad isnt it?). You should be able to start the engine with the clutch pulled in though. ____________________ Yamaha SZR660 Caution to the wind, the throttle pinned! |

Hey guys, I wasn't trying to undertake him but it was a turn and like Yams said eveasive action. The bike worked ok in the end I remember reading something about what you said Yams, about pushing it forward and back and then try to put it in neutral. But my cuzin just kept trying to push on the gear lever with his hand and suddenly it changed to neutral and it works perfectly. I think sand might of got inside or something . Thanks for saying the driver is a dickhead . You know its weird, after the crash I didn't get nervous at all, I was just out on a ride an hour ago. I drove almost exactly the same. Maybe it's because I knew I did the right thing . On my first accident when I got on the bike again I was shivering! ____________________ Kawasaki ZZR 400 | K5 GSX-R 600 |
