She might be dead by the morning.
She might have inhaled the fumes from any poison you've left out there, man.
You need to go wake her up now, man, and let her know.
Go on, get on with ye.

An element of hysteria creeping in perhaps?

He's probably put down rat poison in his own garden. He's picked up at least most of the stuff.

Rats can and do carry their food back to their nests. Rat poison of the sort used isn't instantly fatal, so there is a possibility they have carried it into the neighbour's garden.

The vet is not particularly likely to report anything to the police or the HSE (?).

Going next door? "Don't tell 'em, Pike!"

Old ladies are vanishingly unlikely to go around snuffling up rat poison.

If I'm spoiling a wind-up, sorry.

I've 2 options.

OPTION A:

Im up early anyway. I'll drop over around 8, play it all cool and ask her about Brian, I'll even take some cheese. Then when she tells me the woeful tale of his demise, I'll say "I saw one of the local foreign scroates hanging around with a dodgy looking bag, you don't think? no they wouldn't would they? surely not kill a harmles little rat?"

Then I'll tell her best not to have the grandkids over or and dogs, just in case there is more poison.

OPTION B:

Get over early, around 8. Be honest with her and say "Doreen the rats were a real problem. I've done the best part of £50 on Amazon buying poison for your garden to kull the little bastards. I poisoned Brian and all his mates, I photographed him as he was lying dead in the feeding bowl. If you had not started a food bank for all the rats in the neighbourhood then this would not have happened. There is poison littered all over your garden. Don't have the grandkids over, nor any dogs. If birds start falling out of the sky then that's probably down to me as well. Sorry, are we still good?"

I have to be honest, option A is looking good from where I'm sitting.

An element of hysteria or not wanting things to get any worse for King29.

The vet is not particularity likely to have been impressed by by how the dog came to be suffering from zinc phosphide poisoning. The owner will be really fucking angry and most likely wanting blood.

I'd be very careful if being creative with the truth when saying where the rat poison was put down and suggesting theories for how it got into Doreen's garden. She'll have seen the collections of dead rats that have been left on the pavement outside her house

Not a big fan of how you went about this operation, to be honest. Can't see how anything good could come from this.

Option A is a bad idea because you're not just being economical with the truth, the whole thing is fictional.

Option B contains far too much detail.

Option C goes something along the lines of "Doreen the rats are real problem and the only way I could deal with the problem was by putting rat poison down. You need to get pest control from the council or the housing association to come and deal with the rat infestation before it gets any worse. kthxbai"

Keep it simple. Thumbs Up

I realised that as much as the rat poison means her garden is unsuitable for kids or dogs, her ever growing army of rats means it's already unsuitable for kids or dogs or anyone who isn't a deranged old lady.

This isn't hysteria, at this point I see it as damage limitation.

I'd go with that "keep it simple" if I had to say anything, but I wouldn't say I'd been putting down anything in her garden!

Yes, I make no mention of where the rat poison was put other than down. Razz

Yep, they say the bill is going to be north of £300. The vet stated that the only reason he is doing so well is because he is rather large for his build. Fucking fat more like. It saved him anyway.

From what I understand about the poison it is very much like giving cyanide to humans, it stops the body producing energy molecules. Meaning death. So either the Yorkie never had very much or needed a greater amount because of his size. Either way I've dodged a bullet but my wallet is still going to be drilled for £300+. They've not forgiven me for cutting it's hair, this is unforgivable so they said. I hope the Yorkie is OK as I like dogs, fingers crossed.

Ste, I'll take your option C, better than either of my offerings.

It was an accident. I thought I picked it all up, I never did. Mistakes happen, call me what you like, not going to change the outcome. I'm paying the vets bill, vet says dog will be OK as he's giving him the flush out.

It was a mistake /criticism.

There are no fumes until the zinc phosphide rat poison mixes with stomach acid. Wink

She might just die in her sleep tonight, possibly caused by the distress of seeing her bestest buddy Brian dead. Shocked

I dumped 30 packets of the stuff in both our gardens 90/10 split in her favour. The majority was wanged behind her washing machine.

Except it is not a lost plot and really not that hard to follow.

1. Batty neighbour feeds rats

2. I put down poison

3. Leader of the rats is dead

4. Borrowed dog eats remiants of poison

5. I get a big vets bill

6. Have to explain to neighbour stuff I'd rather not

Do keep up dear.

Come again? Did you also cut the dogs hair? Why? Please tell me you didn't give him a skin head to make him tougher against the rats??

No. A while a go the Yorkies owners were away and left the dog with wife and I. The Yorkie was booked in to have a trim for £20. I decided to save them £20 and have a go myself.

I thought it was an 8/10 where a proper trim would have been 10/10. I put the pictures up in the what oiled my gears thread.
Someone commented their dad was a hair dresser and I'd made a piss poor job of it.

Yorkies owner went mad and as penance I would have to take the dog for a long walk once a week.
