OK, so the issue seems to be that someone has only been posting on this forum for a few months, and has already got gold blobs.

No, that isn't me. I've never even once tried to be laddish or to try to get to know anyone here at a personal level. I'm here because I share an interest in bikes - it isn't my social circle.
I've probably got gold blobs for posting in the Workshop subforum (hasn't been many posts there, but I don't really get upvoted by members). I'm really not here for blobs. Most posts in that subforum btw just drive me nuts (can't see someone's diagnostic or work process if any so you don't know what they've tried or what they've done wrong) so I ignore them even if I want to post, but if I can post there in a neutral way I will, occasionally. I'm no fount of knowledge on bike mechanics - far from it, just an amateur. Just to clear that up because I do have blobs and I don't think that's from people giving me upvotes/karma but just from posting only the Workshop and General.
That said, I'm not new to this forum but this is not a sock account. I created this one initially just to ask for advice on how to remove a stubborn wheel bearing. Someone, I remember, suggested welding a piece of steel to it. At the time, I couldn't weld anything (I'm still just an amateur welder but I have worked on acquiring this skill) but since then have done a couple of projects, mostly on exhausts.
I forgot the password for my old account, and wanted to make a clean break with it anyway (yes, I had an argument and got carried away - didn't conduct myself in the best manner and I regret that). The point being, the old account is redundant, it's literally years old and it hasn't made a single post in, literally, years. So it can't be said to be my "true" account, and in any case even that one was preceded by an even older account, of which even the username I've forgotten (must have been in about 2004/5 and had about 3 or 4 posts at most).
Just wanted to clear that one up. I also would add, at the end of the day, if someone who didn't know me were to say, that based on some interaction on the internet with someone who didn't know me personally:

then I would hope I would have the maturity and wisdom by now to shrug and appreciate my good fortune in having sufficient means, fun hobbies, good health and physical ability, bikes to ride whenever I want, etc. Those things in themselves are enough to bring about envy and rage, btw. A sequence of untoward life events can turn a person misanthropic. I'm fully aware of that. If someone doesn't like me and wants to chase me down over something I said on the internet years ago, perhaps it is or isn't the consequences I brought on for myself and nobody's fault but my own. But it would be pretty sad if, as you say, it's an online drama and it's what you're here for, rather than an interest in bikes.
