hi all

what is everyone wearing during this hot weather?

I been wearing an A-stars summer mesh jacket with kevlar jeans but still find the kevlar jeans get a bit toasty, was thinking of getting trousers like these ones:

https://www.dainese.com/gb/en/motorbike/pants/d-dry%C2%AE/drake-air-d-dry-%C2%AE-pants-201674580.html

any other similar ones I should be looking for? cant find many with the mesh air style

Roadskin Easyrider jeans; CE approved so *should* be reasonably protective still (material is woven with Kevlar type material so the whole trouser is protective). Still wear my normal jacket, albeit with the lining removed and every vent in sight opened up. If I'm doing less than 20mph I'll still cook, but I'd rather cook and be beautifully smooth than be cool and abraded/chewed up by the road.

I got a 4XL short and they are a perfect fit for me, you'll have to try them on.

Same all year round, armoured goretex, just with the lining removed for the summer.

ATGATT for me these days - unfortunately I wasn't clever enough to learn from other people's mistakes.

I think many decent Kevlar jeans are better than many textiles? IVF never seen any textiles beyond an A rating but I’ve got fully lined Kevlar jeans with AAA rating.

You're probably right. I'm not up to date with all this new-fangled kevlar jeans stuff. I do have a pair but find them uncomfortably heavy/bulky and believe only certain parts are kevlar lined.

I wasn't even aware of the rating system, I should spend some time looking into that, thanks.

It's a minefield! There are so many variables it is baffling. But as a rule, the lining should be throughout the jeans and there should be armour at the knees and hips. Ironically, a pair of naff jeans (which I subsequently got rid of) were far less comfortable than my AAA jeans, even though the naff ones in all reality would have been useless in a spill (only bits of kevlar, cheapo armour that doesn't fit to you and very thin denim).

Thanks for this, it gives me a base starting point for research.

Would have given good karma, but I'm not trusted with that power yet...

Some single layer weaves like pekev have achieved level 2 CE certification EN13595-1, with abrasion resistance of almost 11 seconds

some decent info here

Why you shouldn't buy a pair of Kevlar motorcycle jeans
