Composite Decking

Anyone any recommendations? I've read the other topics, just wondering if anyone can recommend a particular brand, and did you do it yourself? Do you/have you left your bike on it?

Approx 12' square patio area.

I would conceal engineering brick built supports under any heavy load bearing areas personally if it's a raised deck.
To be clear I'd also do this if it was ordinary timber decking as well.

I do the maintenance at a customers £1.3 million property, he has two raised composite decking areas. One of them, (built by my joiner nephew about 6 years back) always looks grubby even after jet washing. And as Grr says, they need proper support, (not the standard pse timber my nephew used). Over the last five years I've been having to take up areas and build supports under them. My nephew also used drywall screws to fasten the decking down! Not a good idea.
The other area, is better quality composite, it's easy to clean and always looks good. Also the other builder used proper stainless decking screws.
So don't go for the cheap shite, (and don't get my nephew to build it).

The Chinese are developing some fancy artificial wood. Its pretty impressive stuff. I would wait untill they've perfected it. Of course by then decking willbe rather passe. If it isn't already.

If you can afford it use Teak decking, fantastic result!
