I’ll be finishing work tomorrow at about 11am in SW Cumbria (Barrow in Furness). I’ve got the rest of the day free - any ideas of how to entertain myself (motorcycle based, not bloody Adultwork!)? I’m considering a trip somewhere on my bike, any destination ideas?
Thanks!

Depends on you ultimate destination. Looks like plenty of little wiggly roads lead from there Smile

Lakeland motor museum, about 15 miles from Barrow. Then head onto Devils Bridge, there will be other bike there.

A trip over Hardknott Pass separates the men from the boys!

From Barrow the road around the edge of the Lakes is lovely (A595), then cut across to Kirkstile Inn for lunch (Loweswater) before going over the (recently resurfaced!) Whinlatter Pass, before heading past Keswick and dropping down to Ullswater and back over Kirkstone Pass.

Drive up through the lakes and get stuck behind your choice of double decker busses, caravans and tourists. See which of them goes over 30mph first.

Cumbria sucks by motorbike unless you leave stupidly early in the Morning when there's no traffic. I get bored and fed up with traffic every time I go down into the lakes, even on my 350 bullet which tops out at 65mph.

Go directly to Kirkby Lonsdale by the shortest possible route and go out into the Dales. the Ingleton to Hawes road is a bit of a challenge.

The western side of the Lakes isn’t too bad outside the school holidays and offers some great riding e.g. Birker Fell, Langdale, Wrynose, Hardknott, Wasdale (one of the prettiest places in Europe Cool )

The eastern side past Windermere and Bowness is far too busy though. I usually use the Hawkshead ferry or the Kirkstone Pass & The Struggle to bypass the hordes Thumbs Up

Apart from Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere, I never seem to meet much traffic in the Lake District. Am I doing something wrong? Confused

Last time I took the Hawkshead ferry (starting from Grassmere) I was on a single speed push-bike and STILL fuckers were holding me up. On electric-assist fucking bikes no-less! And I'm not exactly cycle-fit.
