350 because you've not had credit before, or 350 because you've missed payments ?

You need to sort the missed payments and then go for a bad debt credit card - Ocean, Capital1 or one like those.

You need to get all your missed payments sorted first, they won't look at you with them showing up on a check.

Do not think that getting a 'payday' loan and paying it off quickly will help, it won't.

By 'tried the card' do you mean did one of their eligibility checks that don't impinge on your credit rating or actually 'properly applied?

The more you apply for and get rejected, the worse it is for your rating.

You need to sort all your debts/non payments out first. THEN look into what you can do to improve your credit rating. The thing is it all takes time, there is no quick fix and the last thing you want is a list of refused credit applications.

Card companies aren't going to change their answer just because you phone them.

What direction is your credit score moving in?

Your £1,800 of debt, how many credit cards and overdrafts is that spread across?

If you're missing payments on an amount of debt that's "nothing major", nobody will want to give you a mortgage and rightly so.

As Polarbear says, there are no quick answers here. Stop applying for more credit and instead sort out the existing problems.

P.s. I'm not a loan shark.

If you can't get a credit card you can always get a "cash card" it's a bit like a credit card with a zero limit (as in you have to pay money in before you can spend it) but it's not quite a proper debit card...

Anyhoo, I got one just to separate company expenses from my own money and they offered to "loan" a year's worth of membership fee (£5 per month normally) and then you paid that back each month. Money going in circles obviously but they presented it as a way of proving you could pay back loans. TBH I don't know how effective that is!

Pay off your debts and save up. Don't overthink it. When you go for a mortgage with your 15%+ saved up and not having missed any payments in a long time they wont be bothered.

Hand

You can't spend money using a cash card, all you can do is withdraw cash from ATMs.

There are also prepaid credit cards which can be used to buy things but they don't even show up on credit reports.

As such, neither a cash card or a prepaid credit card will have an impact on the card holders credit score. Wink

Indeed, I'm part 2 of, one is out of 999 and the other is 700...

350/700, not bad but could be better.

Don't even know if I've got one. Logic says that i do cause of the mortgage etc but worrying about it day to day? That implies that credit is going to be a way of life.

Don't know my credit score and don't care what it is. All I know is that when I log into online banking, it keeps telling me I'm highly likely to be accepted to raise my credit limit to £15K if I fill out a form and apply for it. Considering I never use credit, I've no idea how they worked out that one.

Phoning and pestering is never going to work. simple as.

For me, its dead simple.

Sort your missed payments out. Square them away.

Then wait 5 years.

They disappear.

Then you start again.

There's no quick fix. No more computer game "lives".

This is real life.

Your gonna have to wear it.

I can assure you its better on the other side.

Good luck.

You should use that credit-score company with the talking dog and two dumb cunts in it, every time they check their score it's gone up and they have shitloads of nice things too.

1st off that 350 means jack shit to any lender. Hope you are not paying to find out that waste of space figure.

All lenders use their own scoring. Then look at missed payments. And YES all this info is available to all lenders.

So this 1800 that is nothing major.... Just how much a month do you earn?

If that debt is more than 50% of your DISPOSABLE monthly income. So that is what is left after you have paid all your bills to live for the month.

Then it is a major problem.

Use a payday loan, or some of the higher interest lenders and you will see most lenders reach for a even longer barge pole..

Want to improve your credit rating.
Pay off the debt.
Pay DD's on time.
DO NOT apply for any other credit for a year.
Make sure your monthly debit is never more than 20% of your disposable income.
