It's been 3 months now and I figured its time to tell the hallowed halls of BCF.

I got royally sacked from my motorcycle training school I was working for for the last 6 years.

Well when I say sacked I mean I was told I was not going to work with them anymore because I set my own company up with a colleague.

So Pinky now runs his own ATB with a logo designed by Mrs Pinky.

https://www.professionalridertraining.co.uk/

Go me! we've been live for 3 months now and business is picking up really well. It was terrifying going alone after being with a well established school but I do not regret the decision.

Many walls of text, too many clicks before I see the price.

On the front page I just want to see CBT - £xxx - click here to book.

Other training - £xxx per hour/day/whatever - click here to book

Otherwise contact us at (many contact options, including social media)

No on cares about how much the website says you care, how professional your service is, how silky the handjob. Everyone says that, and everyone's a cunt. Location, price, availability. Standard tradesman bonus points for a) answering emails and messages quickly and b) bothering to turn up.

Hope all goes well.
You'll be cr*pping it at first but things soon pick up.
As others have pointed out with the web pages but I'd also add that I see a heap of photos of almost the same thing in a yard. Obviously with it being a new venture you'll have limited images but try to lessen repetition and perhaps make a short video or two, host them on YouTube and link to your website?

The refreshingly candid view from a seasoned BCF-er, I can add no more.

That's all I want to know.

On the booking page, put stuff about "For a CBT requalification (£70.00), a 2 day CBT (£200) or any of our other offerings, please call 07366 440045 to book seperately." can go further down the page as I assume that a small minority of people want those.

"On the day of training you must : Have a provisional UK driving license with provisional motorcycle entitlement" Ummmm, full uk driving licenses are not welcome? Laughing

Yep, good luck fella.
Going it alone is very daunting especially if you have been used to the payroll.
I’ve been self employed for 30 + years, ups and downs but wouldn’t have it any other way and makes you budget money better too.

Best of luck!

Ps would a BCF discount work, perhaps to regular posters, get a few customers under your belt and some momentum / good feedback and better known?
I obviously don’t know what the profit / costs are and if it’d work, just thinking!

Would think most on here have full licences already. And are too proud to admit they need either training. Laughing

Congratulations, hope it works out.

Just a thought, and I haven't done any market research on this, but from my pov, there might be some who would appreciate just an observed ride, e.g. people coming back after a long break from riding, or people who want to keep up with their quick friends, or just people who feel they've hit a plateau or feel uncomfortable in certain riding situations. Sort of like saying, leave your clipboard in the office, leave your radio behind too, just follow behind me on my preferred route this afternoon, make a mental note of anything important to tell me, and when we get back let me know your thoughts. Bespoke training, no bit of paper required at the end, sort of thing.

Yes, the police thing is a good point. The police do a thing called Bikesafe, and I can see the value for commuters, but that's pretty far from what I had in mind.

Just for example as I think I'm sort of typical... I just got in just now after a short evening leisure ride. I try to be as safe, responsible, predictable and visible as I can around town because there are people, vehicles and hazards. No problem.
At certain times of the day, the good roads are just completely clear. Now, as we all know, a lot of roads have downgraded speed limits these days. On wide, open, winding, completely clear road that has posted 40/50 limits, where you can see there isn't anyone there, that's pretty cool. You whack it up and down your close-ratio gearbox as much to listen to the whine as to be technical (slow roll on, etc.) You don't have to worry about other cars, there are no kids by the side of the road, no cyclists as far as the eye can see. All good.

At this point, if you get a bit "exuberant", say, an instructor might swear and shout but, in essence, he won't imply some sort of sanction, he would just give advice. I don't know if there's any market for this, though.

On CBT booking page it says
"Have a reasonable understaing of the Highway Code"
I think you mean 'understaining' ?

One other nit pick
None and I mean NONE of your hi viz vests have 'Polite' on the back
tut tut

Oh and by the way
It's 'Hollowed' halls, this place is dying y'know

Cheers all, all the issues with the webpage will be ironed out over the next few weeks, It was kind of cobbled together as soon as we launched but the details will be passed on.
